If it is due to damage from chronic loud noise exposure (rock music, industrial machinery),the prognosis is very poor. In young and robust with liver yang or heat, results are often quick and good. In elderly with kidney xu, results are poor because by the time we see them, their kidneys are usually pretty shot. But if we get them at the outset of kidney xu tinnitus, there is some hope. Guest guest
Well put, my experience too. I've also had two cases over the years where impact to the area around the ear has led to tinnitus and each responded quite well with moderate speed. Guest guest
Daniel: Wiseman and Ye distinguish between " repletion patterns attributed to ascendant counterflow of liver fire or phlegm fire, and vacuity patterns attributed to depletion of kidney yin or center qi fall. " In repletion patterns, tinnitus is of rapid onset and characterized by the sound of frogs or the tide, while vacuity patterns have the sound of cicadas, flutes or pipes. " Liver fire tinnitus is attended by headache, red eyes, dry mouth with bitter taste, vexation and agitation, irascibility, constipation, yellow tongue fur and rapid, string-like pulse. " Kidney vacuity tinnitus, observed in vacuity patients and the elderly, takes the form of a fine, thread-like sound that occurs frequently, accompanied by limp, aching lumbus and knees, enuresis, seminal emission and a fine, weak pulse that is forceless at the cubit (chi). " Hope that helps, Kind regards, Jack --- Daniel <solothurner wrote: > Hello all, > > 51, male, heavy smoker, 10-15 cups of coffee > sweetened with artificial > sugar, no alcohol (recovering alcoholic), regular > exercise, BP normal, > Cholesterol normal > > Tinnitus, both ears, no previous ear trauma, sudden > onset, gradual > increase, sporadic at first, steady for 8 months, > patient is in > Switzerland > > Frequency and level: 5800 Hz, 10-15 decibels > estimated by Swiss > ear/nose/throat surgeon > > My thoughts on nutritional/functional medicine: > > Any nutrient deficiency/excess that comes to mind > such as vitamin B-12 > deficiency possibly > causing myelin-deficient nerve fibers? Guest guest
I've had a number of patients who have been able to eliminate tinnitus by eliminating the fake sugar. I would definately try this first. How long has he had the problem? If it has been more than a year my experience and that of others I've talked to, including the texts, say it is very difficult. I will try to persuade him to reduce his coffee/smoke/artificial sugar intake with the hope that a reduction of the intensity (tinnitus) may inspire a more moderate/health-promoting lifestyle. Guest guest
Several years ago my brother used some niacin. It was supposed to dissolve blood clots. It did, it dislodged one that ended up in his eye and he lost vision in that eye for a couple of day. It scared the heck out of him. I quarter the tablets when I use it and still get that annoying heat rush on the back of my head and neck. Guest guest
Any advice for tinnitus? My husband has had this for years and its getting worse. he has researched it, asked a chiropractor, doctor, dentist, nobody has been able to give him a solution. They all just tell him, " that's a tough problem to cure " . Is there anything he can do to help this problem? thanks in advance for any input. Guest guest
Hi Cathy - Years ago I got a very painful infection in both ears. The doctor said the infection would pass, which it did. However, I was left with an ongoing intermittent tinnitus problem. I can share with you an accidental method I use that surprisingly keeps the tinnitus at bay. After the daily shower I get a clean, dry handkerchief. Then scrupulously dry inside (as deeply as possible) both ears. Completely removing all signs of moisture from the inner and outer ears. The question is...Does a moist environment promote tinnitus? I am not sure. I do know that as long as I continue doing the above daily routine tinnitus is not a problem for me. If I do not follow this method scrupulously the symptoms of tinnitus return. Hope this helps. Kind regards Carlene herbal remedies , " cathymarkowich " <cathy112 wrote: > > Any advice for tinnitus? Guest guest
I've read many years ago that one cause of tinnitus is heavy metals. Last Monday, i had iv chelation, and my tinnitus disappeared. Guest guest
Acupuncture. There are some good Chinese herbal formulas. This problem is probably due to yin deficiency unable to restrain yang, with heat rising. Hard to say the exact pattern without examining him. From a dietary standpoint, go with the basics, walnuts, black rice, black sesame, black chicken, black beans, blackberries, raspberries, red grapes, royal jelly, shitake, beets, kidneys, liver, stuff like that.\ - " cathymarkowich " <cathy112 <herbal remedies > Sunday, February 14, 2010 5:12 PM {Herbal Remedies} Tinnitus > Any advice for tinnitus? Guest guest
Dear Cathy, Best is my Ear Formula. It is a simple Formula of Garlic, Mullein and DMSO in a base of Olive Oil. Of course this works best if he does some cleansing as well. Tinnitus is usually caused by too much of the wrong kind of Calcium floating around in the body developing deposits near or on the ear drum. Making sure he's eating an alkaline diet is essential if you want to handle this permanently. Remember, you have to go to the cause of the problem and if you don't even Herbals can fail. Guest guest
The Organic Solutions "Ear Formula" can also help with this to the point of getting rid of it altogether. A lot of people try Hydrogen Peroxide, but I've never heard of this bringing permanent relief, and it can sometimes contribute to Fungus in the Ear. If you have a weird smell coming from the ear than this is most likely the problem. Extra DMSO added to the Ear Formula can also help, and I'd definitely add Total Tonic for an internal approach. If the fungus in the ear is a problem you may wish to add Black Walnut Hull Tincture to the regimen as well by alternating it with the Ear Formula during the day. The rest is diet. Those who are overweight have more difficulty getting rid of tinnitus than those who are thin. Extra Garlic added to the diet is also essential. Heavy Metals ARE a "cause" of tinnitus, but Calcium deposits in the area can also contribute to the condition as well. The probable #1 Cause is "Acidosis" brought about by too many dairy products being consumed such as cheeses and butter added to other Acid Ash producing foods. Too much meat would contribute to this, and on and on. You've got to get your body's pH back into an normal range. Guest guest
Dear Carlene, What you write below makes perfect sense and goes along with my earlier post having to do with fungus in the ears. If there's too much moisture inside the ear canal, fungus will develop and contribute to the problem. Using my Black Walnut Hull Tincture on a cotton swab will ensure that all moisture is removed, and will knock off any existing fungus. Best, Doc PS. All of my Formulae are in the Files if you wish to make your own.
