Guest guest
BryanI've been meaning to ask a question, and your fluffy friend inspired me. Here's the deal - I have about 25 pounds to lose and I have been on Synthroid for about 4 years for Hypothyroid. I gained the 25 before my diagnosis and it never came off. So I'll tell you what I'm doing to solve this and then I'll throw my question out. I have cut out all refined sugar, bread and pasta. I do eat Ezekial bread every now and again. I make sure to eat 3 meals a day and a snack and aim for nutrition and sufficient protein (getting enough has been a struggle for me). I aim for about 1500 calories a day. I exercise for 45 minutes to an hour every day - either the Elliptical machine or the rower (evil but very effective machine) Thanks for sticking with me - here's my question. A trainer at the gym the other day said the following to me - "If you are on thyroid medication then there is no point in exercising. Your medicine sets your metabolism and it is impossible for you to lose any weight at all no matter what you do." Aside from the fact that this was a cruel thing to say, was she right? Please tell me she was wrong and I have permission to give her a good smack next time I see her. Thanks!!Amy HansonIllinois "I've been criticized for going over the heads of the Congress. Guest guest
There is something to what she says but its not wholly true. Get lots of cardiovascular exercise and good nutrition, the weight will come off. No exceptions. The Astragalus in Doc's Total Nutrition is miraculous for the thyroid. You might consider switching over to it. ~B On 5/11/2010 3:13 PM, Amy Hanson wrote: Bryan I've been meaning to ask a question, and your fluffy friend inspired me. Guest guest
Also, Doc's Black Walnut Hull formula contains Iodine in an organic form. Iodine supports and balances the thyroid which could aid in weight loss as balancing the thyroid would also balance your metabolism.
