Guest guest
They are high in the carbs BUT they are offset by the health benefits (antioxidant) of eating the red grapefruit and if you make sure to eat the membranes and a little white the fiber offsets the higher carbs. I started out by eating just a couple of the whole segments a day. I would vacuum seal the rest in a pint canning jar and just open and take out what I needed each day. 1/2 grapefruit equals 1 small whole apple in carbs Red grapefruit contains lycopene as do tomatoes which helps control cancer cells, vitamin C, vitamin A, flavonoids, potassium The membrane contains soluble fiber and pectin which helps to lower cholesterol. CAUTION: Grapefruit does make any medication your taking work faster thus messing up dosage amounts so don't eat with any medication. - Jane MacRoss Monday, February 02, 2009 7:07 AM Re: Killing Diabetics Well done Jackie - very few of my allopathic patients ever bother to improve things - I was interested to read you say red grapefruit (I was looking at some today and thinking I should get a couple) are they better than the plain ones? Yes, complex sugars (carbs) are still carbs after all! Jane ..
