Guest guest Posted March 4, 2009 Report Share Posted March 4, 2009 My husband has been battling with diarrhea since the Vietam war. Now since the Va is out of Paragonic he is house bound again. Doctors in 2002 removed his colon. He was informed with the colon removed he would no longer have diarrhea. Does anyone know of any other medication that he can take? He had been have really bad withdrawns from not being on Paragoric. Does anyone know why this medication is not available at this time? Kaopectate is a bismuth compound that is effective against viruses and bacteria and also acts to glue together loose stools so they can be passed normally. Guest guest Posted March 8, 2009 Report Share Posted March 8, 2009 Our grandson, who was given to us by our oldest daughter, has a condition called CPT-1A, at least that's what the doctor says, but we think that it is a cover-up, because he ran out of similac over the weekend and we added water to his last batch and fed him water and sugar for the remaining weekend, until sunday, he was medivaced to a nearby hospital, put on I.V., then the next day, the Office of Children's Services took him, pulled himoffof his I.V. and took "emergency custody of him. The OCS realized they made a mistake in taking him and worked hard to get my wife and I off the case and transfered the case to another jurisdiction. We never had a trial, just motions from me that never were answered by the state, the magistrate ruled on her own recommmenation and the superior court affirmed her actions. Is ther anyone out there willing to give some information of the corruption of OCS in Alaska? I am assuming it is all genetically modified these days and also know it is a component of the Hep-B vaccine and guardacil. This yeast also binds heavy metals, which also may be some of the problem folks are experiencing. Here is some info you may wish to look at, I hope it is helpful. Coeliac disease might be an in-vivo model for unravelling the role of mucosal integrity in the formation of ASCAs since mucosal abnormalities normalize during a gluten-free diet (GFD). Aims: Firstly, to evaluate, retrospectively, the frequency of ASCA positivity in coeliac patients both at diagnosis and during follow-up on a GFD. Secondly, to study the correlation between ASCA positivity and mucosal damage. Methods: One hundred and eleven patients with histologically proven coeliac disease, positive endomysium antibodies on diagnosis and normalization of trans-glutaminase antibodies (t-TGAs) after successful adherence to a GFD were included. ASCAs, IgA and IgG were tested by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays both at diagnosis and after the GFD. Results: Eighty-three children and 28 adults were included in this study. The mean age at diagnosis was 4.6 years for children and 48 years for adults. At diagnosis 15/83 (18%) of children were ASCA positive (either IgG or IgA), compared to 17/28 (61%) of adults. After successful adherence to a GFD and normalization of t-TGAs only one child remained ASCA positive (1%) compared to eight adults (29%). Two out of 28 (7%) adults remained positive for both IgA and IgG ASCAs. Conclusion: In the majority of patients ASCAs disappeared during a GFD. In children this disappearance of ASCA positivity was more pronounced. This can be explained by the well-known fact that gut permeability normalizes much better in children than in adults. Also, the adults had higher levels of ASCAs at diagnosis. They retain their ability to accumulate heavy metals under a wide range of ambient conditions. In the present study it was shown that yeast cells in suspension accumulate heavy metal cations such as Cu2+, Co2+. The level of copper accumulation was dependent on the ambient metal concentration and was markedly inhibited by extremes of ambient pH. Temperature (5–40°C) and the presence of the alkali metal sodium had much smaller effects on the level of copper accumulation. This suggests that in waste-waters of pH 5.0–9.0, yeast biomass could provide an effective bioaccumlator for removal and/or recovery of the metal. During bioaccumulation and subsequent processes it is necessary to retain the biomass. It was shown in the present study that this could be achieved by cell immobilization. Immobilization allowed for complete removal of Cu2+, Co2+, and Cd2+ from synthetic metal solutions. The immobilized material could be freed of metals by use of the chelating agent ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA) and recycled for further bioaccumulation events with little loss of accumulation capacity.
