elan_spire Hi Elan, Thank you for taking the time to reply to my email. I tried the borax with hydrogen peroxide today so lets keep our fingers crossed that it will do some good. As for the yogurt being too sweet, it has no sugar, it is Astro. as natural as you can get, which is to help his digestive tract become healthy.

As for feeding bones he will not chew on a bone. It just won't happen. I have tried and the best I can do is to remove the covering on the end of a chicken leg bone. He will not chew on anything that is the least bit hard. He is afraid of any dish I have tried to get him to eat out of. I do use glass dishes because I don't care for the taste of plastic myself. I give him water that is filtered through a brita water filter and it is kept in the fridge.

I feed liver, heart , tongue along with a lot of other kinds of meat. I cannot force him to eat something if he chooses not to. It has been a very long road to get him to this stage. If there is a small piece of bone in anything he just refuses to eat it. I have never had a dog that won't eat a bone or just about turn themselves inside out to get one. But this dog will not. As for fish oil I am leery of that with all the mercury that is in fish so I have purchased organic sun flower seed oil. When he is eating the seeds the bird throws on the floor, I watched to see which seed he is most likely to eat and it was sunflower. I have something for his teeth that has a lot of fish oil in it.

As for the raw feeders group, I had belonged to that but because of their attitude I chose not to belong. If you don't adhere to exactly they way they think they put you down. I tried to explain that is dog is not the usual run of the mill species. They proceeded to tell me I did not know what I was talking about. Until this dog came into my life I have never seen one like it. He does not follow protocol at all.

Vaccinations sigh I am so aware of what they can do. I cannot change what happened to him before I got him, I can only try to help him the best I am capable of. When this episode of mange broke out, I phoned 3 holistic vet clinics and was told "Ivermectin" Hmmm not very holistic sounding to me.

This dog has made huge strides in the 3 years he is here. He is still leery of any dish no matter what shape or size. He goes through stages of being very timid if you move your feet hands blanket paper etc. If it is a bad time for him he will yipe as though something awful has happened to him. I have been using Bach Remedy for that and it helps but the yiping does come back in awhile.

I, so hope, this Borax - hydrogen peroxide will do the trick. My heart just breaks for him, when he is lying down and he jumps to his feet as though he has gotten an electric shock. He does not look like any of the pictures of the dogs with mange. He just keeps losing hair, does not scratch much, and his skin on the back of his neck and over his shoulders look like corrugated cardboard. I have been using tee tree oil with pure olive oil also Neem and it is just not working. I will keep my fingers crossed and hope this will work. Thanks again Elan.

Edith
