Guest guest
My daughter has not been feeling well this whole week. She is 10 1/2 and in 5th grade at the elementary school. We were opting out on the vacanation for the swine flu, but today 45 minutes after she got to school, she was sent home with a temperature of 99. I brought her home, and then called our doctor with concerns of having her tested for the swine flu virus. They made an appointment immediately with us and tested her with a nasal swab, and also tested her for strep throat with another swab. Results were positive for influenza. I questioned what kind? Do we know? Well they said it is probably the swine flu and we will treat it the same as we treat any flu. They prescribed Tamiflu. At the pharmacy we had to wait quite a while while they called all around town to find the liquid form of Tamiflu. They could not find it and they had to create a suspension liquid form of the drug for her. When they finally produced the drug, I was adimate that she take it. We are in the middle of moving, and I am very stressed, and very busy, and have overwhelming financial obligations to fulfill. I did not expect to have a sick child today at home. I have many other things to do today than this....... Shortly after taking the medication, she became very dizzy, and very sick to her stomach, she had a very bad headache and she could not walk. She crawled to the bathroom and layed on the floor. She vomited the medicine. I think that I should not give her any more of the medicine. What do you think? She slept for the rest of the day, and evening.

Guest guest
I don't understand how this flu is any different than the flu that has been going around for centuries. Amy what have you tried via homeopathy for a cough? Have you tried Bryonia? That usually helps with any cough that tries to infiltrate my system. I would also use Acconite, vitamin C and echinacea. I am not sure why going to the doctor when you have the flu is going to help. I would not go because I would not want to take any of the medicine they are sure to prescribe. But that is me!!! A temperature of 99 is not all that high. Take a sponge bath, and keep yourself comfortable. Edith - Amy Hinton Saturday, October 24, 2009 10:29 AM Re: My Daughter --Swine Flu My two sons and I had the swine flu. At least that is what they are saying here in OK, since the regular flu is not circulating here yet. Our oldest son tested positive and they just said if anyone else gets symptoms, it is the same thing. I had it the day I took our son to the doc, and he said just by looking at me, he knew I had it. We, of course, refused any Tamiflu stuff, even tho it was barely within the 48 hour period of when to start it. That being said, the flu is bad in that it keeps you in bed, but we only had one day where we actually felt bad during it. It lasted about 5-7 days for us, not counting how we thought it was just allergies or a cold the first couple of days. The rest of the time we had flu, we actually did not feel too bad, just stayed in bed. Our oldest son had fever for 5 day, youngest had it 2, and I had it 6 days. No stomach upsets, just lack of appetite, congestion, aches, chills, headache for old son and me, and sore throat for young son and me. For us, we all actually felt worse after the flu than we did during. Both of the boys seem to be fine now, but I have a cough that will not end. I have tried homeopathy, hot toddies, onion, garlic, cough syrups, honey, elderberry, and nothing seems to work. If anyone has better idea for a cough, please let me know. Guest guest
I understand how the constant news coverage about the vaccine and flu cases has everyone a little hyped up. But a temp of 99 degrees is not really a 'temp'. It's not even low grade. It's normal. I wonder if schools are getting a little panicky to consider that temp a problem (or I know there may have been other symptoms we're not aware of). Read this doctor's view on temps ... http://www.drbelknap.com/upload/fever%20phobia_0607.pdf If only the news would report on the Redskins cheerleader with the horrible neurological damage from the vaccine ....I think vaccinations would come to a screeching halt. , " harrismoonus " <harrismoon1 wrote: > > My daughter has not been feeling well this whole week.
