Guest guest
Again today on the newsline the information abounds as to the changes to be made to the package inserts for statins ... across Europe. this struck a chord..... 'Generally, statins are well-tolerated drugs, but this might prompt us to keep an eye out. If a condition comes on soon after statins are started, it might be worth stopping them to see if it improves.’ http://www.pulsetoday.co.uk/story.asp?sectioncode=35 & storycode=4124270 & c=2 Naturally 'they' say the drugs are well tolerated (Phooey), but the comment mentions that side effects 'may' start 'soon' after statins are started..... and here in lies my morning ponder....... what about the culmative effect? perhaps the side effect does NOT appear immediately??? And more importantly what about the synergistic effect? Can anyone point me to studies that show there is no harm / harm caused by the various combinations of medications including statins? IMHO statins are rarely prescribed in isolation... there are the diabetes drugs, the heart medications, the .... well you get my meaning. Nothing in nature happens in isolation. Off my podium now :-) Clare in Tas
