My New Diabetes Articles for Health Central: So far I have written 433 articles for the Health Central Network about all aspects of diabetes. In November this website published nine more of my new diabetes articles:

The Grain Drug. We know now why it's so hard to stop eating wheat, rice, corn, and other grains. Grains are addicting because they have opioids, a narcotic drug.

Nothing to Eat. If you listen to all the so-called experts on nutrition, we can't eat anything. Everything is bad for us. But no one knows which diet is best for us. Each of us has to decide for herself or himself what foods will help us to control our diabetes and indeed our health in general.

Fructose and High Blood Pressure. If we cut back on the fructose that we eat from added sugars -- including the fructose naturally in table sugar -- we may be able to control high blood pressure. This could be a better way for those of us with diabetes to control it than cutting back on salt.

Bad Science. Bad science is all around us with so many traps for the unwary. As Mark Twain wrote, "Be careful about reading health books. You may die of a misprint." Or from bad science.

Contour USB Meter. A new blood glucose meter just became available. It has all the improvements that I have wanted for years.

"Food, Inc." The huge corporations that have taken over American agriculture get most of the blame in this excellent new film and from other reviewers. They are an easy target. But let's not rush to blame the companies for doing only what we set up them to do. The root of the problem is our government. The federal government of the United States of America set the conditions under which the great consolidation of American agriculture took place. This is our "farm policy."

Thanksgiving Stuffing. Those of us fortunate enough to be Americans have so many things to be grateful for this Thanksgiving. A huge Thanksgiving dinner isn't one of them. Here are some tips on how to avoid stuffing yourself during the holiday season.

The Case for More Vitamin D. Vitamin D seems to be good for so many conditions that you might think that people exaggerate its effects. We don't have definitive studies showing that we should be taking a lot more vitamin D than we generally do. But I argue that it would be prudent for us to be getting at least 5,000 IU every day.

The Big Ds: Diabetes, Depression, and the D Vitamin. People with very low levels of vitamin D circulating in their blood are much more likely to be depressed that those with normal levels. This is the result of new research presented at this month's American Heart Association Scientific Conference 2009 in Orlando, Florida.

Dr. Bernstein's WebcastIf you have any interest in controlling your diabetes by low-carb eating, one of the best resources is Dr. Richard K. Bernstein's monthly webcast. It's an hour of excellent diabetes education. Dr. Bernstein's next live Tele-Seminar is Tuesday, December 22, at 8:00 PM EST, 7:00 PM CST, 6:00 PM MST, and 5:00 PM PST. He designed it to answer your most important questions concerning diabetes. The special topic will be diabetes and aspirin. The seminar is free. You can click here to register: http://www.diabetes911.net/askdrb/index.php. It's also available as a live webcast both on the Internet and by phone.
