At the very basic level, herbs that are antibacterial, specifically against spirochetal bacteria, are an important component of treatment. Herbs that have been shown to have activity against spirochetal bacteria include huanglian, chuanxinlian, banlangen / qingdai, huangbai, huangqin, lianqiao, tufuling, and zhiz). Dasuan is also a useful antibacterial supplement for those with Lyme Disease " . > I'm curious what other practitioners have discovered while > researching or treating Lyme... Lyme disease also affects dogs and some vets in N America use AP successfully to stimulate the immune system and alleviate the S & Ss of the disease. For example, see http://tinyurl.com/5eglky Though I have not seen Lyme disease in Ireland, were I to be asked to treat a severe case, esp an early case w signs of active infection, I would advise antibiotic use. However, http://tinyurl.com/5vz84b says: " Antibiotic therapy is unlikely to clear all B burgdorferi organisms. Experimental studies have documented persistence (positive culture, isolation, or PCR) even in treated dogs. Antibody titers often stay positive for weeks to months, or they may drop initially and then rise again after 6 months. " Therefore, I would also treat and follow up with AP to stimulate the immune system and alleviate the S & Ss of the disease.
