Guest guest
Hi all, I have a patient with a 9 month-old baby who sleeps very little, both during the day and night. He does not have any digestive issues, no fear or pain, doesn´t cry too much, just seems to have loads of energy and not needing the sleep. The parents, on the other hand...are not so well. Would anyone be able to tell me if ear seeds are advisable/effective in such a little patient? I tried the Tuina but it was impossible to keep him still and it had no effect. Thanks in advance, Sonia
Guest guest
absolutely! that is the preferred way. Pts: shen men, heart, neurasthenia area, neurasthenia pt, nervous subcortex, and deep sleep pt (on back of ear). I wouldn't do the ear apex bleeding on the little one unless acomp. by high fever, and only a few drops, but that would be extreme treatment. if you have trouble locating some of the points, refrence Dr.Li-chun Huang's books and chart. Guest guest
Dear Sami, Thanks for your reply. Will try the ear seeds then. Just to clarify something else the neurasthenia points and deep sleep correspond to any chinese points at all? I was checking for the Dr.Li-chun Huang's books and chart but found them available in America only and a bit overprice for me to buy and ship to europe at the moment. Guest guest
Hi Sonia, If the baby is well and the parents are not well, why not treat the parents and let the baby alone? Just a differential diagnostic 2 cents. Stanley Leung at ACTCM (circa 1988) used to rapidly, lightly tap children's points to sedate. He'd slowly and more deeply tap to tonify. The kids liked it. Kind of a patty cake game. Respectfully, Emmanuel Segmen
Guest guest
Hi Sonia - you might want to look at Julian Scott's Pediatric Acupuncture. He talks about how we are born with Qi that isn't always quite up to the needs, and so we draw from our parental matrices (hence exhausted parents). That makes Emmanuel's suggestion very appropriate.
