Guest guest
Hello again, I'm starting to get in quite a few pregnant women, and always feel a bit limited in what I can do for them. Any opinions on your favorite TCM Gynecological/Pregnancy book would be greatly appreciated! Many thanks, Jenn Holley
Guest guest
Hi, Debr Betts's book The Essential Guide to Acupuncture in Pregnancy and Childbirth is the best seller in this topic area, see http://www.chinesemedicinetimes.com/product/193/171/the_essential_guide_to_acupu\ ncture_in_pregnancy_and_childbirth Attilio Chinese Medicine , " Jenn Holley " <glam70 wrote: > > Hello again, > > I'm starting to get in quite a few pregnant women, and always feel a bit limited in what I can > do for them. Guest guest
Hi Jenn, If you are looking for an herbal text, I don't think there is a good one yet. One of my teachers, Dr. Qiu Xiao-mei, was an experienced and well known traditional Chinese medical obstetrician. I have translated most of her text though it is not published yet. The translated material is available as part of a dvd course I have taught on the treatment of women during pregnancy and postpartum. The translated chapters are excellent and full of clinically valuable techniques and case studies. It includes chapters on morning sickness, oppressive feelings during pregnancy, pre-eclampsia, prevention of miscarriage, excessive amniotic fluid, premature rupture of the placenta, postpartum episiotomy failing to heal, and much much more. Altogether it really is a rather complete text. I've worked with her methods for about 17 years and find them to be very effective. You can download it from the dvd. You can order the dvds here: http://www.whitepinehealingarts.com/seminars/seminars_distance.htm Best Sharon Chinese Medicine , " Jenn Holley " <glam70 wrote: > > Hello again, > > I'm starting to get in quite a few pregnant women, and always feel a bit limited in what I can > do for them. I agree with Sharon that we don't yet have one really perfect book for the combined topic of OB/GYN in Chinese medicine. That said, I used to teach the OB/GYN class at PCOM, and by far the best books available are Blue Poppy's Compendium of Chinese Medical Menstrual Diseases and their Chinese Medical Obstetrics text. If you are mostly into obstetrics, obviously the latter is better, but the two books together essentially form a pretty complete OB/GYN core curriculum. I also have a bunch of class notes that I translated while I was teaching the class, but most of my translated notes cover GYN diseases rather than diseases of pregnancy (all my notes are organized by TCM disease category, but there are a few that are organized by WM). Email me off list if you need the notes. Eric Brand
