Guest guest
I am trying to arrange my life circumstances so that I might train in scalp acupuncture in Nanjing. It's looking hopefully like Sept/October. Has anyone spent time there at this time and can advise me as to what to expect weatherwise? and otherwise!? Thank you. Turiya Hill, L.Ac. Guest guest
Hi Turiya, weatherwise-I spent Sept/October in Nanjing and this is a great time to be there. Still hot in September and getting milder into October but not yet cold at all. So ,optimal weather conditions. otherwise-I was there in 97 when most everyone was still commuting on bicycles ,unlike now. As far as cities go it is not huge like Beijing so getting around is easy. There are many hospitals using acupuncture scalp and otherwise. It was cheap to live there...perhaps a few dollars a day(but that was in 97) and Shanghai is an hour away by fast train, also the Yangste is nearby fro travel by boat. Hope that helps a little bit! Guest guest
Haha! Nanjing is a hellhole as far as weather is concerned but Sept/Oct is indeed the best time to come. It is not cheap anymore (hostels 100 RMB+ per day). River is polluted and not a resort. Still a lot of bikes but too many cars with macho-style nouveau-rich drivers terrorizing the streets. Food is greasy and salty. That said, it is a lovely place with many universities and a great TCM univ and hospital and famous teachers. Also, some nice parks (×Ͻðɽ and ÐþÎäºþ). Guest guest
I spent three years in Nanjing, and I agree with David. I got hit by a car once and on another occasion I broke my wrist after slipping on oil that the fat popcorn guy close to the uni pours on the pavement and bicycle lane. And don¡Çt forget to practice Tai Ji in the parks in the morning. Guest guest
Sounds inviting, Tom. And very funny. I was in the southern provinces back in the 1980's.  Lots of bicycles in the populated areas. Very few cars, and our bus, on the country side. China was pretty awesome to me at that time. Anne Anne C.
