Very interesting indeed. ... especially the mortality statistics of

allopathic versus homeopathic Tx!

I will keep in mind homeopathic Nux-v (Nux Vomica), Aco (Aconite),

Sul (Sulphur), Bry (Bryonia), Ars (Arsenicum), China (Cinchona

Officinalis), among other possible remedies.

In 1918, allopathic medicine (WM) was far behind its modern

capabilities. It recognised no antiviral agents, and its intensive

care / support therapies were primitive then.

In Ireland, many people died from that epidemic. In Coolaney, a

remote part of West Sligo, it is said that the local Parish Priest

(PP) was very anti-drink.He was a proponent of the emerging National

Temperance Movement, headed by Fr Matt Talbot in Dublin.

The zealous Coolaney PP gave regular hell-fire and brimstone sermons

on the evils of the demon drink, especially the local moonshine (40-

80% alcohol) [called by its Gaelic name: Poitin (pronounced " put-

cheen " )].

Then the Great Flu hit the area.

The local doctor had no official answer to a cure but came up with

the idea of confining the patients to bed and keeping them drunk on

hot poitin until they recovered.

Then the PP got the flu ... He refused to take the cure until the

doctor told him that it was purely medicinal and that he would stay

(and drink) with the PP until he was cured.

Legend has it that the PP and the doctor were stone drunk for several

days, that the PP recovered uneventfully, and never mentioned Poitin

off the altar after that!

Dr McDonald (probably of Scottish origin) in Pittsburg agreed. See:

www.med.umich.edu/medschool/chm/influenza/assets/pdfs/wpib/pitt_%20new

spapers/ps68.pdf

During the pandemic in 1918 in Wyoming, local townspeople deposed the

Sherriff and raided his office to get the only whiskey left in town.

The story rings a bell about TCM Formula Classes that Release the

Exterior~ Warm + Acrid Herbs that Warm the Interior and Dispel Wind

and Cold...

Hot Poitin, especially combined with Cinnamon, Clove, Ginger + Honey

+ / - Garlic could be very useful in the early stages of the flu, esp

when one feels alternatingly chilly and hot ... ?

Best regards,

Now thats my kind of medicine!

Add to that a few years ago when they did the echinacea study they used a

modified Jagermister as the placebo....perhaps another reason why the results

did not come out correct (lets not forget the 1/3 of the usual recommended

dosage as well).

Be well,
