Guest guest
Hugo, It sounds like a good idea, but such an approach might undermine the " standarizability " that such studies seek to accomplish. Just a simple example... For upper-body problems of a musculo-skeletal nature, I use Tan's method. In 80% of these cases I can get resolution by accessing the knee or ankle. Sometimes, however, I have to use the hip. In the 20% of cases, it's not that Tan's method doesn't work, it's just that it didn't work at the place where it usually does. The beauty of the system remains intact, it is just that the locus of stagnation can lie anywhere along the channel. In most acupuncture studies, the focus seems to be on points, so I don't know how future studies could accommodate more dynamic applications that focus upon process, but Hugo, I think your right, by having each school foster its own studies, we could have a hundred flowers bloom within the field of Chinese medicine.
