Guest guest
I believe on this group there was a discussion of this once but I can't find it in the archives so here it is (again?). Has anyone signed up with American Specialy Health and either a) stayed because they love it or b) left because it was the worst thing since mold or c) any option in the middle I haven't thought of. I'd love to hear any opinions, positive or negative, either on list or privately. I'm on the fence about signing up with them; and speaking with local colleagues hasn't helped much since it's been pretty much 50/50 but no one on either side of the question has offerred much information about why they go one way or another. Some of the items in the ASH paperwork have made me sit up and say " why does a health insurance provider need this info? " so I'm still vacillating. Thanks in advance for any and all answers. Guest guest
the ratio of payment for face-to-face contact time with the patient (i.e., the treatment) and the requirements they put on the practitioner for additional non-face-to-face contact time in filling out their paperwork and submitting reports (which is time they don't compensate you for) makes it financially impractical. You have to accept their contracted rate of reimbursement (last time I checked it was $40, could be different now) and can not charge the patient for any remaining balance/additional time/overhead. I prefer to stay an " out of network " provider in general. J
Guest guest
I, personally, would stay away from ASH. I used them for a very short period when I practiced in SD and they do not pay well. They also overburden you with paper-work and justifications. It was definitely not worth my time. Lastly, you won't see a lot of people with that insurance. My advice is to stay away from them. Guest guest
ASH is a pain because they don't pay well and they require a bunch of extra paperwork. However if you are just starting out and need to generate patients, it's really a shame to have to turn these people away. And furthermore, I have had ASH patients that have turned into great referral sources. (BTW, when filling out the credentialing paperwork, don't mark off that you do anything like Reiki, NAET, or any other " fringe " therapies cause they will reject your application.)
