Can someone recommend an herbal formula to treat plantar warts and/or to prevent

reoccurance? One of my patients has had several painful warts removed and

acupuncture has helped the lingering 'post-op' pain, but wish to give him

something preventative. Thanks.

i use the HC clear heat formula as a guide when making up a formula. it

includes anti-viral herbs. lately i'm including: isatis', bai hua she she

cao, yi yi ren, xia ku cao with favorable results.

some folk remedies that seem to work:

duct tape

yi yi ren paste mixed with castor oil

castor oil

dip in white vinegar after shower and dab on towel

the duct tape and plaster must be left on 24/7.

For treatment of an 'active' plantar wart, I taught my son to prick the skin

overlying the wart with a sterile needle and to carefully apply the essential

oil of Thymus vulgaris - neat - onto the broken /pricked skin. This should be

done at least once a day.

He's a damp, hot guy, who's had 'ordinary' warts as well.

A dermatologist told him to supplement with Zinc and B group vitamins, and that

seemed to work for his ordinary warts.

Thymus vulgaris is a 'big gun' in the essential oil tool kit. I only use it for

very stubborn infection/invasions. Don't allow it to get into the eyes or other

tender areas. It shouldn't be used 'neat', but in the case of application to a

very small area of skin such as this, it's usually ok. Discontinue if signs of

irritation or sensitization occur. Please don't even think about ingesting it!

I had great success with Thuja homeopathic ointment used in alternating

conjunction with stridex acne pads. The salicylic acid in those acne pads is the

key. Place one moist pad on the area and keep there all day, at night use the

thuja ointment. Otherwise, plantar warts are usually due to an immune

deficiency. Depending on where the warts are, you can determine the channels and

organs involved in the deficiency and treat as such. Also keeping in mind the

skin and Lung association, you can tonify the exterior via strengthening the

lungs.
