Guest guest
Hi Dale, I've been trying to get pregnant since March (well, hubby being gone last 3 months doesn't really count, I guess!). Anyway, I'll have to remember to fly you out when I'm finally ready to deliver! Your info made for great reading. Your posts always make it quite apparent that you are not only very good at what you do, but that you have a deep love & respect for the pregnancy/birth process. Thank you for passing along the great info. My poor SIL was induced w/pitocin on her first child, went through 15.5 hours of horrible (induced) contractions, dialated only to 3 cm before they finally put her out of her misery & did a c-section. Baby #2 was a planned c-section. She then got her doula training & studied everything she could about birthing. W/baby #3, she tried for a v-back & hired midwives to help her " naturally " through her home birth. It was really important to her to not do a c-section if it could possibly be avoided. Unfortunately, she wouldn't dialate on her own & , after 17 hours of intense labor, she finally had to go to the hospital & have a 3rd c-section. Amazingly, she is trying to get pregnant w/#4. Who knows what birth " strategy " she'll try this time? Anyways, thanks for being a wealth of knowledge! Full term gestation is 41-42 weeks. The AVERAGE length of gestation is 40 weeks. Average is a word that is tragically abused by birth careproviders. <snip> Warmly and sincerely, Dale
Guest guest
I always tell people if they want to get pregnant, just commit to something really expensive like an expensive school course, buy a new house, a new expensive car and sure enough that baby will show up. I wanted to wait and 3 months after we bought our house and had paid for an expensive correspondence course, I got pregnant. I had wanted to wait a few years because we were kind of cash poor and I wanted to get comfortable financially, but hey, it all works somehow even if you're freaking out at the time. Guest guest
A big hug to you Tammy!! I'll be there...let's see I have an invite to Alabama for some hands on soapmaking lessons and Jill has a few babies due in January...Hmmmm...I'm sure I can work this into a homeschooling lesson...I know..Health Ed!! ROFL on Michelle's tip for getting pregnant. That is the truth. I learned after four kids, one divorce, one property that almost went to foreclosure and two new homes that if you stop to think about it you WILL go crazy. Don't think...just keep on keeping on!! Somehow ends will meet. Nessy, you weren't breech to boot were you? Dale

Guest guest
I second that emotion! I forwarded your posting, Dale, to my girlfriend in Chicago who I just visited ... she's expecting on 1 December but she was just HUGE two weeks ago. Best wishes.
