Yep..you read that right....my 22 year old sweet ole mare got

caught in a stall with my 8 yr old can't stand another in the

same room mare .... the young one proceeded to kick her

mercilessly (?) ... I have no idea how long Misty was in the that

stall getting the crap beat out of her, but when I did get into

the barn and freed her, she was full of welts and bruises and had

a nasty cut underneath her chin ... that's a weird place for a

kick to land so she may have cut it somewhere in the stall - but

don't see where/how...anyway, I doctored her up - she was shaking

so badly and in obvious pain - with a mixture of lavendar and

olive oil and then a mixture of lavendar, clove, peppermint in a

carrier oil. I also bathed her cut under her chin in this

mixture - which she didn't particularly like- in it. She is

better today - but I was wondering if anyone had any good

remedies I could put on her - trying to get thru the 'hair' to

the skin below with the oil mixture is a messy prospect ... any

ideas?

thanks!

Blessings,

Pam

Hi Pam,

I'd give her some homeopathic Arnica orally, like 30C dilution and some

Aconite (helps with trauma) and Rescue Remedy (all orally).

HTH!

Pam:

I am thinking a little bit into the future here for you.

Your 22 yr old mare was tramatized. She is going to be skittish for

sure.

May I suggest you get a hold of a book on Tellington-Jones massage.

This is a wonderful way to massage animals and specifically horses.

I have a feeling she will not want to be touched for awhile and with

the herbs and then this massage it would be a great benefit to her

and draw her back to her normal self again.

Good luck with her, I left my horse when he was 40 yrs old.
