Guest guest
Hi Butch, Thanks for the info on the two 'types' of True Myrtle. I'm a little confused though, [not hard these days ] Can you please help me explain what you mean by this statement Common Name Botanical Name Type > Green Myrtle (Myrtus communis) Linalool Type > Red Myrtle (Myrtus communis) Cineole Type > **** Not that these are Types .. not Chemotypes. **** Do you mean they are different chemotypes and you have a typo in there, or am I missing the point entirely? Guest guest
Hey Jane, Tania .. other good folks .. > Hi Tania, > > Nice to see you here :-)) I'll even come out of the Lurkorium to welcome > you to one of the best lists on the web ! > > Got a botanical name for that Myrtle ? That'll make it easier ( & safer!) > to pass on info to you. I was trying to find out who asked about Myrtle .. I recall seeing it once but couldn't find it again as the subject didn't begin with Myrtle, so thanks for bringing it up .. and though I don't really recall what the question was I can imagine as there are only two kinds of Myrtus communis .. True Myrtle. Lemon Myrtle (Backhousia citriodora) is NOT a True Myrtle .. and we get into confusion sometimes when we use Common Names. So .. guessing that your question had to do with Myrtus communis the answer would be .. the two types are: Common Name Botanical Name Type Green Myrtle (Myrtus communis) Linalool Type Red Myrtle (Myrtus communis) Cineole Type Not that these are Types .. not Chemotypes. Wanna see some Wild Green Myrtle .. go to the following URL http://www.av-at.com/stuff/aromaticplants.html > It's threatening to get stinking hot outside again today, so I'm happy > to come back inside this arvo & dig through some books & links. Y'all got summer time in Oz now .. lucky you. ;-) > Back to the Shed right now though, as it's a soaping day for me today > while the weather is good for it. Have a good one Jane. > Jane :-)) And keep smiling. :-) Butch http://www.AV-AT.com
