Guest guest
Hi all As I couldn't get into chat and stay there, I wanted to slightly address the issue of Migraines. One of the reasons that it's so hard to Kill a migraine, why there is no one " cure " is because there are at least FOUR different types of Migraines. A few years ago, I read an article in Time magazine on this subject (for some strange reason, it interested me ;-) ) and while I don't remember all the names I remember the name of mine... it's the type that is most common for men and can be themost debilitating, it's called a cluster Migraine. These are usually focused on one point in the head and it's usually behind an eye. Briefly from my own experience, it feels like someone has slipped a sharp pencil behind my eye and is trying to push my eyeball out with the SHARP end. Migraines, as you know can last for days on end. I'm very lucky, it's seldom that I've had one last for more than one day and almost never that it lasts more than two. I'm also fortunate that it rarely gets to the vomiting stage or that I can't function at all. It happens, but thank goodness not often. Different medications affect different migraines differently. Notice that word " different " . And each person experiences their migraine in different ways. Most affect smell and vision. But " fixing " them is a whole world of experimentation. Medication is a start, but what helps one type of migraine, won't touch another. And of course (never start a sentence with and, very poor form! LOL!) then you start to bring in peoples own likes and dislikes. As a lot of you know, I don't like Lavender. Can't stand the stuff. I do use it on my kids all the time, but if I have a headache, keep the stinky nauseating stuff away from me. Caffine helps for some people, for most others it makes things worse. Cheese and Chocolate are also Migraine triggers for some people, or will at least make an onset migraine WORSE. Again for some people, neither affect me much (or so it seems) one way or tother. Migraines can be hormonal as well, some are event triggered. I had one triggered the other day by coughing violently over a tiny piece of turkey. Burst a bunch of air pockets in me lungs as well, but fortunately they will repair themselves. But the point is, Anything can trigger a migraine, so you add that all together and is it any wonder there is no " cure all " for the Migraine. My best advice is to find out what type of Migraine you have and work from there. And what works for you, Probably won't work for everyone. This probably won't help anyone, but I thought I would lay it out a bit on WHY it's so difficult to kill them. Cheers!
