As we are an international list I thought I would ask...What foods do you eat

that are suppose to bring good luck for the New Year? I'll start:

Because my family is from the southern US we eat Blackeyed Peas. Now I don't

know why, just tradition. Probabaly because sometime ago, someone wanted to keep

the pea farmers in business. I know that last year I thought hooey and didn't

cook them...well, hubby was unemployed for all but nearly 3 months of the year,

so...you can bet we will have our Blackeyed Peas this New Year's Day. Not that

one has anything to do with the other, but I will keep up the tradition. I know

that some up north eat Cabbage, but don't know why on that one either.

OK, lets hear what your traditional " Good Luck Food " is.

Hugs to All

and Happy New Year~

When I was little, in Germany, there always woudl swim a carp int he

basement bathtub, to be eaten for New Years...:)

Now, I just go to my friend Karen for her birthday on the 1st and enjoy

the Vienna symphony, we make believe they are just playing for her..:)

Hi Anita,

Fun thread! That's very interesting about your bad luck when you didn't eat

the black eyed peas. No sense in taking chances - put those on the pot this

year!!

My DH graduated from Athens, Tx high school - the self-proclaimed Black Eyed

Pea Capital of the World, lol!! I think I'll put those on the pot this year

too, no sense in taking chances ;-)

Happy New Year!

Pamela
