Guest guest
I know we've done the " what are your favorite EO's " question in the past, but I am wondering what your favorite carrier oils (a.k.a Fixed oils or fatty oils) are, and why? This can also include " butters " *Smile* Chris (list mom - REALLY getting off the computer now!) http://www.alittleolfactory.com
Guest guest
I'm for fractionated coconut.. Just about the best overall oil there is. clean, non-staining, good slip for massage, good feeling for the massagee, and does not impart any aroma from itself. Next would be jojoba but I wouldn't use it 100% as it is too " heavy " for my personal tastes, and it does have some aroma itself. This can also include " butters " I just LOVE unrefined shea butter. I use the yellow shea mostly. I love it for soap, I love it for hair & skin care. It's a little greasy when applied to the skin; but if it's a good quality shea, it'll absorb into the skin and lose the greasy feel/look very quickly. For an all-purpose butter, with its many nutrients and healing properties, you can't do much better than shea butter. :-) -- Sandy
Guest guest
Fractionated coconut comes in an easy favourite for me. Great shelf life, non-staining, makes a great oil-based perfume spray, super for massage, I think it's the best. I like jojoba for facial blends but fractionated coconut for everything else. Guest guest
Hey Chris and all, >I know we've done the " what are your favorite EO's " question in the >past, but I am wondering what your favorite carrier oils (a.k.a Fixed >oils or fatty oils) are, and why? This can also include " butters " Well......I of course love my unrefined shea butter first because it soothes my eczema/dry skin and is healing because of the vitamin A etc. 2nd would be VCO just cause it sinks in so well, smells so yummy and can be used in a variety of ways (makes a great body butter with shea). 3rd is rice bran oil. It mixes well in with shea butter and vco in body butter/massage butter , is high in phytosterols I've read and that is supposed to soothe the skin. Is pretty stable and is a light oil. 4th is Macadamia nut oil since it is light, goes good in skin care, massage oils, lip balms and such. 5th borage oil because it's high in GLA which supposedly is good for our skin and it sounds good. 6th Jojoba always blends well in face serums, body butters and lotions and doesn't leave a greasy feel since it seems to soak in well. 7th Fractionated coconut, which I kinda quite using since using rice bran and mac nut, but will probably start messing around with formulating with it more in the future. Then there are others like castor oil that I must have because I like to use it in soap and lip balms. Rosehip seed I like to use in facial blends and for eczema blends. And...I am going to go place an order for some eo's with Butch in bit and get some Black seed oil to see how that measures up. Can't wait to hear what others say. And Chris, what about your's??? Guest guest
I LOVE: Emu oil- in lotions and salves - for it's medicinal qualities, as well as the fact that it goes in beyond the skin... Cocoa Butter - in my soaps for it's emoliency Fractionated Coconut Oil - in my massage oils and part of my perfume sprays Jojoba - for it's emoliency..and for the fact I can infuse herbs into it as well as the FC Oil. Castor - for the lather it gives my soaps. Anita
Guest guest
Do you have a problem with the smell of the unrefined Shea messing up your fragrances? Juliet I just LOVE unrefined shea butter. I use the yellow shea mostly. I love it for soap, I love it for hair & skin care. No. The shea that I use does have an aroma, but not a strong one. I use it for whipped shea butter; and by the time I add other oils and stuff for my recipes, the scent is barely there at all. I don't add any fragrance to it, and it's a very good seller. I have had some shea with a strong scent, but I don't use those anymore. -- Sandy
Guest guest
I haven't been doing this very long but I like apricot kernel oil. I have just started with the butters so I'm not sure on these yet. Kathy - Christine Ziegler 1/15/2005 4:06:07 PM What Are Your Favorite Carrier (a.k.a. Fixed or Fatty) Oils?
