Guest guest
My DH is in Hawaii (left me here in Alaska)and is willing to go flower/herb hunting for me. Does anyone know of anything that he could collect and dry to tincture or add to CP soap? Someone was talking about tincturing flowers for fragrances. I would love to try that with some flowers from there, just not sure what works best. Thanks, Juliet
Guest guest
Hi Juliet, I'm not tincture savvy, but lived on Maui and was in constant awe of the magnificient flowers there. I went hiking in the jungle with a friend once, and we found these flowers that are great for your hair. He was a native and told me the name of the flower in Hawaiian, which I can't recall. I can see them vividly in my mind -- which does you no good at all! But, maybe someone else will know what the heck I'm referring to. Anyway, right there on the spot we squeezed them onto our hair and left it there for the remainder of the day. Don't think my hair has ever smelled so sweet or felt so soft since. Thanks for the memory, Michelle

There are some florists who specialize in getting pikaki blooms out. I know that many love to use the pikaki flower to condition their hair. I think that Paul Mitchell uses the extract of this flower in one of their shampoos or conditions (not that I think they would ever use enough of it to recreate the effect of the real thing... just a marketing tool). Guest guest
Have a friend that has a flower in her yard that is commonly called " soap ginger " or something like that...it's name is awapui(awe wa poo ee), or something like that. Put it on your hair and conditions and smells wonderful!! This may be the same thing.
