Guest guest
I have a son who after a bad head cold always comes down with an ear ache or inner ear infection. (he doesn't blow his nose a lot) I am very limited on my knowledge of things to use for this from a natural remedy....but I am learning a great deal from this group. You all are wonderful!! Does anyone have any hints or ideas that I could use to help him. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. Guest guest
Hello, I've heard of putting chamomile or lavender on a cotton ball (diluted of course) and packing the cotton ball into the ear. Haven't tried it myself although I sure wish I would have had something when I was a kid. Every Spring pretty much meant a trip to the doctor with an ear infection =0( I'm sure there's lots of good advice out there, hope something works for you! -Christina - Vicki Story Sunday, March 13, 2005 6:30 PM EO's for ear aches... Guest guest
Cristina, I have this one nailed for you. Tea Tree in almond or sunflower oil. Kids swear it works better than prescription and is far quicker to use and can be applied before we need to go to the DR. Of course if it gets worse (hardly ever) we go to the Dr. Hugs, Jan S www.sweetprairiesoap.com jans ~ The Soap Dr. is in! ~ Come see our garage sale!!! Guest guest
Hi Vicki, My daughter just recently got over a nasty cold which had led to an ear infection. She had such a high fever for days that I took her to the doctor and of course he presribed Amoxicillan, but did say to wait a couple days before filling it to see if it would clear up on it's own. I decided to use some eo's to help it do just that. First I had her sniff Oregano Vulgare a little bit. She didn't like it at all, but I told her it would help so just sniff. (she's 4) I then mixed 1 drop Bulgarian lavender, 1 drop Roman Chamomile and 1 drop palmarosa into 1 tsp jojoba oil. I then rubbed/massaged a couple drops of the diluted blend right behind her ear. I also put a couple drops of the diluted blend on a small cotton ball and rested it in her ear. I left it like that while a did a little more gentle massaging for about 5-10 minutes. She actually liked having the cotton ball. I am happy to report that after 2 days of sniffing a bit of Oregano, and 2 evening treatments with the eo blend and cotton ball, her ear infection cleared up. I did give her Motrin for pain and the fever as needed. I certainly like to believe that it was the combo of eo treatments that helped it go away. I never had to fill the prescription. Happy bout that! The recipe I used is a variation of one I found in " Aromatherapy for the Healthy Child " by Valerie Ann Worwood. hth, Margaret > >I have a son who after a bad head cold always comes down with an ear ache >or inner ear infection.
