Guest guest
>>>>substitute a non-petroleum wax for the paraffin without risking burns>>> I'd say that soy wax might be a good alternative. The melt point of it is quite a bit lower than paraffin. Actually, they are now marketing soy candles in tins, just like what I sell for $5.99, for $14.95.....and they can be used as *massage candles*! LOL I guess it satisfies those hot wax lovers as well Chris Kelly http://www.scentsappeal.net -- Version: 7.0.308 / Virus Database: 266.7.3 - Release 3/15/2005
Guest guest
I want to just make soy tart melts. You can get clamshell packaging, just pour in, let cool, and let sit undisturbed for 3 weeks. I haven't tried to make them yet. I was going to use beeswax in them, but wanted to just use soy wax with no additives. I guess soy is very soft, though, so with tarts they would be pretty soft. But you can put a few different blocks in your electric tart melter, and make up scents. Renee B.
Guest guest
I make soy tarts - why would you have to let them sit for 3 weeks? Or did I miss the point.....lol. Guest guest
I was wondering about that too Cindy. My soy sets up in a few hours. And to make the soy harder I add Stearic Acid. That way I can even make votives out of soy. Guest guest
I've heard of adding stearic but have never done it - how much do you add? Guest guest
It depends on the type of soy you use. Start with 2 oz per pound but it may take as much as 4 oz per pound of soy wax. If you are using the same soy wax as I do then you can count on 3 oz per pound.
