Guest guest
Hi folks, It was suggested to me to use liquid lecithin as an emulsifier instead of, say, polysorbate-20. Anyone tried this? Any pros/cons? Thanks, Josh
Guest guest
Hi Josh, Well, I've never used polysorbate 20 so can't compare between that and lecithin as an emulsifier, but I have used liquid lecithin. I was happy with the results. I was trying to make a thin emulsion for a face lotion that could be easily dispensed using a treatment pump without the worry of it continual thickening, like some do using e-wax etc.. Also, the emulsion was fairly stable for the few weeks I left it to sit to watch it. I've also used it with GMS and that too was pretty stable. I am not sure of many cons to using it. I have read that lecithin will draw other ingredients beneath the epidermis to the cells (liposome formation) so could be a negative if one used any ingredients that caused nitrosamine formation. But...would definately be a positive to make a liposome cream/lotion to deliver beneficial nutrients. hth, Margaret http://www.naturalindulgences.com Now in Stock - Micronized Rhassoul Clay! > >Hi folks, > >It was suggested to me to use liquid lecithin as an emulsifier >instead of, say, polysorbate-20.
