Guest guest
Hey y'all, > This week (April 4 - 10) our herb of the week is Myrtle (Myrtus > communis). Good show .. an interesting plant and oil this is. > I will post various info about this wonderful smelling all week, and I > hope that anyone who has any personal experience with this plant will > not hesitate to post about it too :-D > > To kick this off, check out this picture of me sitting in a big o' > myrtle bush in Turkey! > http://www.av-at.com/stuff/mvc00001.jpg For folks info .. this is on the Suthran Coast of Turkey .. maybe 6-7 miles from the Mediterranean Coast .. and the plants you see cover the entire hillsides of a large, deep valley through which runs an ice cold stream filled with trout .. along the stream banks are many little fish restaurants .. one can sit in tree houses overhanging the stream .. or wade (knee deep) out to one of many floating raft/platforms that serve as dining areas .. platforms are covered with hand woven Turkish carpets and stuffed hand woven Turkish pillows (yastik) .. you are basically sitting or you can lay back like the Ottoman Sultans did. If one doesn't want to wade out a friendly waiter will pick you up and carry you out .. the size of the waiters vary according to the size of the one they must carry. If a person is rather large they might take two guys and use a cross handed method of transport. ;-) Cost of a fine meal for two .. fish, potatoes/rice, mezes, fresh green salads, desserts and alcoholic drinks .. followed by dark, rich Turkish Coffee and a plate of sliced fruit .. runs around $10 US. The Myrtle bush Chris is lounging in is Red Myrtle (Myrtus communis) Cineole Type. The other type of Myrtle is Green Myrtle (Myrtus communis) Linalool Type and I will have that on my Retail site in the next 48 hours or so. > *Smile* > Chris (list mom) > > Perfume Bottles and Pendants > On Sale Only Through Earth Day! > http://www.alittleolfactory.com Y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch http://www.AV-AT.com
