Guest guest
Hi everyone; It has been a long time for me to come in so I am starting slowly to catch up but I see it does not matter how long you have been away everything gets covered sooner or later. Well my son went through his huge hernia operation, lower abdomen. He has been recoping for about 3 weeks now and tells me he is still swollen in the scrotum and area. I worry about this. The doctor said he had the largest hernia he has worked on and told my son the swelling would go down between 1-2 weeks. My problem is that my uncle also at one time had an injury in that area and the blood collected in the scrotum. It hardened and cut off the blood supply to one of the testicles. (Boy those words are hard for me to get out, old fashion that I am, but this is important). Which of course resulted in him losing it. NO!!! please do not ask all the questions about replacement parts....lol. Anyways, I am worried sick about my son and of course he is 20 and will not talk to me about it or take my advise. So does someone know or can suggest anything this boy can do for his mother who wants grandchildren? Thanks Barbara

And with the family history that you mentioned, that would also add to your worry, naturally. > > > Anyways, I am worried sick about my son and of course he is 20 and > will not talk to me about it or take my advise. I'm not sure where you live, what country or what medical advisory services you have access to. Where I live in Oregon, we have a service called Ask-A-Nurse. It's a phone in service where you dial up and ask questions. Perhaps this would be a place to start. Or, if you have access to a medical library that is staffed by a live person, that's helpful too. It's all fine to have WebMD and other internet based services, but you can really get off on tangents, well I can anyway. It's nice to have someone point you in the right direction. I hope your son will be okay. Sandi Thompson, R.A. People heal at different rates, and I'm sure you've checked for fever or redness, which would indicate an infection. Again, call the doc! I just hammered my mother's HMO and oral surgeon about approving her surgery, and it took several calls daily. You must be persistant and pro-active. > Sandi Thompson, R.A.
