Hi folks,

I'm looking at natural vegan alternatives to beeswax for making

lotion... so far palm wax sounds like the best bet. So I'm interested

in hearing any sources for palm wax, AND any alternatives you might

think of. Carnauba's out because solvents are used to obtain it.

Any recipes/guidlines/book recommendations to help me learn how to

use waxes would be nice also :)

Rank beginner here!

Best,

Josh

I would think you would need Palm Stearic Acid, which is used as an

emulsifier for lotions. When you say palm wax makes me think of my candle

wax and I'd not use that for lotions. :)

Donna Maria's book is good. Also Rosemary Gladstar has a good recipe using

beeswax.

Trial and error are the best ways to learn. ;)

I use vegetable E-wax as an emulsifier, a small amount allows the lotion to

thicken into a nice consistency. I cannot use beeswax and other thickeners as I

appear to be allergic to them. I make a nice face lotion with herb infused

oils/vegetable glycerin/distilled water/essential oils/e-wax.
