Guest guest
Hi Josh, Looks like she is talking about plain ol' floral waxes which are a by-product of the absolute making process. Several suppliers on this list sell them regularly and I do co-op buys on them occasionally. Actually I've been planning to do one some time this summer (in the next month or two). I'm just figuring out what varieties I will be able to get - I've gotten some samples and it looks like Jasmine, Bitter Orange Blossom for sure and Carnation is a possibility (we shall see . Funny though, for the most part, floral waxes really have only become a hot item in the past few years. I was talking to a producer of concretes and absolute in Egypt about these just a few days ago and he was like - " You want the wax? That is a discarded remnant that we let them take away here ... " *lol* and it has been for the longest time - just considered trash by the producers. But some creative folks figured out that it can be used in some good and fun ways, and now it is all the rage and fancy sounding I'm wondering what price that producer in Egypt is going to come up with for what he once THOUGHT was trash but now sees there is interest in *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com On Behalf Of Joshua Alexander Hi folks, I read about " essential waxes " at http://jeannerose.net/articles/essential_flower_waxes.html and wondered if any of you have recommended sources. -Josh

Guest guest
A floral wax is a " waste product " from the extraction process used to make the floral absolutes. It is one of those extracts, which before aromatherapy was invented, used to be dumped as a useless by- product. The guy I used to work for was given dozens of 10 kilo cans of rose wax because it was " considered worthless " by the producers. It still had a nice smell, but it was just impossible to dissolve. Best use I could find for it was a shoe polish. Maybe it can be used in candles, but I have my doubts as to if the genuine article can be used in much else. Just another example of people interested in aromatherapy being fooled into buying waste products at greatly inflated prices. This is similar to hydrosols, which have always been treated as waste products by the big producers (apart from rose and neroli). Next thing I guess, will be someone trying to sell the plant mass left after distillation as a wonderful fragance product - only in aromatherapy Martin Watt http://www.aromamedical.com ==================================================== , Woobey Queen <WoobeyQueen@g...> wrote: > What's an essential wax? Guest guest
I made a mistake... it had a couple oils in it, too: Key ingredients: Essential oils of roesmary, geranium, camomile, angelica. Borage, avocado, red palm plant oils and essential waxes of narcissus, rose and cassia. >Made SOLELY of floral waxes and essentials oils?????
