Guest guest
Hi Folks, I still don't have a happy computer, but did pop on and saw parts of the below thread and the discussion about using EO's neat (undiluted) and not diluting them because it'll disturb their natural vibrations, etc ... and I want to tell ya - this is overlooking some vitally important facts, and some folks here might want to seriously rethink that " modus operandi " . First, there are plenty of documented cases of folks becoming sensitized to EO's (including tea tree and lavender). Will it happen to you for sure, not necessarily, but a good analogy is like drunk driving - will you get into a wreck driving drunk? .. Maybe, maybe not. Are there folks who've done it 100 times and gotten home without incident? - SURE! Are there folks who got into a crash and hurt themselves or someone else just the first time they did it? - SURE. Do you raise the odds of getting into an accident by driving drunk even if you've done it " safely " so many times before? - OF COURSE. Same goes for using a potential sensitizing agent undiluted. Why raise the risk when its unnecessary as EO's have been proven as effective, if not even MORE effective when diluted. There are plenty of mediums to dilute oils in also, so you're not just limited to using oily substances ... Now, onto the vibrational stuff ... to make an EO, plant matter is put into a distillation unit and exposed to steam (which as we all know is hotter than boiling water) and through that process the oil soluble matter is separated from the water soluble matter. A pretty intense (and stressful) process. Now, most folks I know agree that boiling vegetables " boils the life out of them " , so I wonder where on earth folks get this precious, delicate " vibrational " thing about something that emerges from the distillation process? Now, don't get me wrong when it comes to my feelings about EO's. I do personally make " spiritual oil blends " and " potions " - and I don't use synthetic oils as I do feel it is important to use the botanical materials rather than synthetic substitutes, and I use EO's in my home for ailments of various types, but I don't put them on a " vibrational " pedestal and decline to dilute them cause I'm concerned that it'll disturb their " vibrational " qualities in some way. If anything was going to affect any innate vibrational qualities of the original botanical matter, undergoing the distillation process to make them would have! Oh, and lastly, the whole thing about Rosemary EO being contraindicated for high blood pressure is hooey - don't get caught up in an unsound, unproven, phony contraindication like that, while ignoring the very real, proven, potential for a problem such as using the oils neat ... *Smile* Chris (list mom - pressed for computer time and can't chat more right now) The New Site Is Coming Soon! http://www.alittleolfactory.com , <snipped statements below> > I do also have a friend who was having problems with > Athlete's Foot and I suggested she use neat tea tree on those > areas.....she did and it cleared up. -- no problems.... > Karen > > I’ve seen open wounds, scrapes heal quicker with Lavender than with > > anything > > else. Guest guest
Thanks for that Chris... how funny... I want to add my two cents. First, as to vibrations... the entire principle of homeopathy is that dilution can make a vibration more powerful. We see a similarity with flower essences, where dilution can make the vibrations more accessible/useful/appropriate. If someone's worried about " diluting " vibrations, they can intend to suffuse their carrier oil with the vibration of the concentrated oils, thus creating a large amount of a high vibrational substance. As for the distillation process... sure, boiling veggies too much " boils the life out of them " ... *in to the water*. After that, the veggies are like the left over plant matter and the boiling water like the... well, hydrosol more than essential oil ;-) Drink it! <laugh> So I don't know that the distillation process is necessarily going to hurt the vibrational/energetic qualities, just help move them from one place/state to another. There are many besides the retailers and distributors whose information is more often than not, redundant. http://www3.interscience.wiley.com/cgi-bin/abstract/4065/ABSTRACT http://www3.interscience.wiley.com/search/allsearch?mode=quicksearch & WISindexid1\ =WISall & WISsearch1=essential+oils If I didn't make it clear in my previous comments about my use of EO's " neat " , I will try to do so now. I'm learning. I do what works, for me, as a result of personal use, from observation and the results of those whose medical history and personal life sytles I am very familiar. I learn from those who have years more experience and clinical practice than me. That everyone is so very different, circumstances are always changing, be it state of mind, physical capacity, belief systems, etc. is a major consideration. Life styles/med history are equally important, not mutually exclusive. Chris, you write.... >First, there are plenty of documented cases of folks becoming >sensitized to EO's (including tea tree and lavender). Will it >happen >to you for sure, not necessarily, but a good analogy is like drunk >driving - will you get into a wreck driving drunk? ........... Like you, I too use REO " neat " . But your analogy about driving drunk and sensitivity is a little confusing...should I be using it diluted? Actually, now that I think about it, I rather like the analogy about driving drunk. I also like the disclaimers posted at the end of some of these lists. If the particular list owner observes the content to be familiar and is offened, I apologize in advance. I am taking liberty of borrowing and submitting the language as an example of judicious, sound advice by posting it here. Disclaimer.
