Guest guest
Hi Shelly, Great to have you aboard Sorry to hear that hubby is having some health issues. Here is some info on gout that might be helpful: http://www.althealth.co.uk/services/info/ailments/gout1.php There are two books you might want to consider adding to your library. One is " Healthy Healing " by Linda Rector-Page and the other is " Prescription for Nutritional Healing " by Balch There is so much valuable information for dealing with so many health issues between those two books and they each go into a very holistic approach to wellness (nutrition, bodywork, herbs, vitamins, etc ...) *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com On Behalf Of curvy_wench Hi! My name is Shelly and I joined to help my hubby. He is getting old before his time and hates Doctors and man made pills. I am looking to find ways to help ease his pain and discomfort. His list of ailments is varied and wide, but right now the main one is gout. I am looking for something that can ease his pain AND let him eat more than tuna, onions, garlic and pineapple. Any suggestions? Thanks Shelly
Guest guest
Dear Chris, Thanks so much for that wonderful alt.heath.co.uk website! I don't have gout or know anyone with it, but I am always looking for further education. The description of gout was so beautifully clear. I am going to have some fun looking up other conditions on the same site!
Guest guest
Hi Shelly, The book Healing With Whole foods lists aduki bean congee specifically for gout, and also mentions celery and cherry. To make the congee, throw a handful each of rice and aduki beans into a pot or slow cooker with 5 to 6 cups of water, cook on low four to six hours. It's better to use too much water than too little, and it's said that the longer congee cooks the more powerful it becomes. I don't understand the food references you made, must be from diets suggested for gout? No veggies and grains allowed? Anyway, would hubby be open to seeing an acupuncturist/herbalist, getting some needling and taking some chinese herbs? Or at least the herbs :-) -Josh > I am looking >for something that can ease his pain AND let him eat more than tuna, >onions, garlic and pineapple. Any suggestions?
