Guest guest
Found one of the books LOL lol ok my husband did not find this too funy but i found the hummer in it all lol Ok he spent days looking for one of the books. Now we live in an old 2 story victorian house with big bedrooms and closets on the second floor. Most of its been converted into my business, but two of the closets are still for regular storage, and thats where we were sure the books were. He spent days dragging boxes out and unpacking them to no avail. then tonight im looking up at his computer in the dinning room and i say to my daughter .PISST isnt that one of those books on top of his computer stand? She GASP. OMG it is.! ROFL we could not stop laughing. hubbies coming down stairs sweating bullets from looking for one of these books and goes whats so funny you too? I picked up the book from my lap and he looked at me and walked out of the room with out saying a word, the look on his face was price less. lol a few minutes later he comes back in and says very softly, im not going to get mad, im going to get even when you least expect it. what do you want for dinner sweetie. ROFL Gotta love him. :0) Anyway heres the book info. Dont loose it PLEASE.! LOL i found the 22 edition- the first issue was in 1833. The title is " The Dispensatory Of The United States Of America " . The 22th Edition. publishers are: Horatio C. Woods,Jr. & Charles H. LaWall the first half of the book is for people and the last half of the book is for animals. back then i guess its the way the books were made? its only about the last 1/4 of the book or less. Its a very cool book as are all of them. Back then they were stil using herbs & botanicals for there medicines. This books list all the medicines of the day or drugs as they call them: there offical synonyms & abbreviatons. there official definition. there unofficial synonyms, foriegn language titles, trade names & trade marks. there source, manufacturning, process & history. there descriptions. there standards and tests. there incompatabilities. there uses. there toxicology. there off. prep. - offical preparations. there doses. and there storage. It a very cool book & very large & heavy lol. It even goes in the history of the plants and such. Or like if someone invented something it gives short details, history and so on. They dont do that today. But its got every Essential oil and Botanical or Herb you could think of in it as well of zinc oxide and other common things we use.And other things ive never heard of before in my life time that sound very interesting. Some of the formulas are very usable, Others I would stay clear of. But its good reading non the less. Enjoy, Linda A.K.A.
