It worked! I only made one 9 " round pan layer cake, and I found a

little metal rack, so I didn't have to use the chopsticks. I put the

gas burner on low, with the rack inside and the lid on, while I made

the batter.

 

I put the pan in, put the lid back on, and in 22 minutes had a

perfectly cooked cake! I just took it out of the pan after cooling for

10 minutes, and it's springy, moist looking ad perfect.

 

The Mother of Invention is an appropriate term.
