Guest guest
HI Y'all, I need some help to make 50/50 Beeswax and Paraffin Candles for this winter. I will be using some saved cans and some other things that I saw at the local hardware store. The heating bill is going to be atrocious this winter, even here in the south and this is one of the only ways that I know that I can add a little more heat to the house, because that thermostat is going to be set at about 62° and maybe lower. I have a lot of beeswax to clean and am going to start on that this week. Eddie and I have become so sensitive that those paraffin candles even unscented make us sick. I need to know what kind of wick to use and if I need to add anything to help with the scent or does beeswax help hold the scent and make a good throw? I have made recycled candles several times and they did pretty good, but I have never worked with making them with my own mixture and I really need to do this. Anyone? TIA I love burning the oil lamps as well, but we both found that they were causing us some problems with breathing as well….. sigh …. So this is the only thing that I can think of. Guest guest
Paraffin wax is a petroleum by product. Since burning the oil lamps also seems to be causing some breathing problems I would think that petroleum in them is what is causing the breathing problems. I would go with either all bees wax candles or a bees wax/soy wax mix. Paula .......... in Michigan I used to have super powers but my therapist took them away ..............................
