Yeah, yeah, and I'm getting so rich and got my feet up while y'all are suffrin' ;-P Lol. NOTE to ALL: I was not talking about charging for time in general, lol, HA! I would be rich. This rate I mentioned is a cost for a product re- formulation based on time- which is less than charging a new formula fee. It is not much money at all. Everything has a context. We all work too hard in this business if this is how we make a living. Still, I am grateful for all of it and I know you all who suffer with me....enjoy it too. Guest guest
Hey Gayla .. Elizabeth .. other good folks .. > Let this be a heads up for everyone! Listen to Elizabeth on charging, not to me! <laughing!> I think I am probably older than you .. and I remember working in a motel during HS for 25 cents an hour .. but if I were to put even $30 an hour on my time my company would close in a week. I average 70 hours a week now .. was a time it was 100 +. This time is between confirming orders, answering on and off line posts and trying to manage from across the sea. I do this cause I like it and I can pull enough each month to cover my basic living expenses here in Turkey .. but I could pull MORE each month if I quit NOW and took early Social Security. I am holding off ONLY because I was recently married .. I originally had plans to retire at the end of December. Was a time I used to clear more in 3 days than I clear in a month now. Granted .. they were also 12-15 hour days X 7 day weeks .. but now I work for myself and I like the work more .. that counts for something IF you are not in a bind to pay bills just for living. My advice to anyone who can pull down $20 an hour for their labor in this business is .. GROW .. GROW .. GROW .. and that means extending your line and hiring some help. I operate as competitively as possible and still keep the doors open .. and 3 folks employed in an economically depressed area of Appalachia .. I'm satisfied with what we're doing but would obviously like to do more .. if possible. I'm not operating an expensive hobby nor am I depending upon the income from my company to keep the wolf away from my door. My advice to those who think they must stay open to keep the wolf away is .. be realistic in your expectations of what the natural products industry can do for you .. or .. get a good steady job at McDonalds or Wendys. ;-) > Gayla Roberts > Always Enough Ranch, Acampo, California > www.bouncinghoofs.com/alwaysenoughhobbysale.html Y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch http://www.AV-AT.com Wholesale/Retail GC Tested EO and Hydrosols, Rose Products and other nice things shipped from our store in Friendsville, MD. But since then not only have I become 'self supporting through my own contributions' but there are two other full time employees and six or seven part timers who are all keeping the wolves from our collective doors. are we any of us getting rich? heavens no. But we are able to avoid getting a 'real job'... several of my part timers are collecting disability insurance, and limited in the amount of hours they can work or in the work they can do. Some are mothers of school aged children who need " mother's hours " ... one is a high school coop student... one is a college student available two or three days a week. the full timers (me included) all work way too hard and too long...but it's worth it!
