Made my grand son look this up last summer when he asked. We did a lot of berry

picking and had cobbler at least once a week. It was called a cobbler because

the biscuits on top of the fruit reminded people in Colonial America of the

cobble stone streets in England.

Am I the only one who remembers the fairy tale of the elves & cobbler ? About an

old shoe maker and his wife ?? The elves would come to the shop in the middle of

the night to make shoes and the cobbler's wife made clothes for the elves ?

A dog that heels - i.e.goes to the heels of animals and turns them back to

you. A herding dog. Do a Google for Blue Heelers or Red Heelers.
