Guest guest
Y'all keep smiling. :-) And don't use the danged EO neat. ;-) ALL RIGHT ALL READY!!! I'm excited that you wrote me such a long letter Butch! Back when I first joined this group, you seemed a little scarey. Now, I just have such a feel for who and how you are, that I just wanna give you a big hug. I've barely skimmed your letter, but am printing it to read later. Thanks for taking the time to write Butch. I'm on my way to Sedona for the birthday weekend. Disneyland was the original plan, but we opted instead for a cabin in the woods, next to Oak Creek. Got a nice hike planned tomorrow and I'm getting a massage in the afternoon. Like you, a getaway from the computer is always a vacation. Not taking a laptop and turning off the cell. Aaaaahhh. Hey, by the way, a more personal congratulations to you Butch. I'm so excited that a little guy is on the way. I'm thrilled for you both! " See ya " on Tuesday, Michelle *******Butch, you know I think you're THE best!******** Thankee ma'am .. humble me you do .. as my wife does daily. :-) ********I hope you're not feeling any charge around this thread, 'cuz I'm sure not.******** No chance of that .. no thin skin on this here ol' kuntry boy .. and I know you are not a space cadet .. so we are doing just fine. :-P

No chance of that .. no thin skin on this here ol' kuntry boy .. and I know you are not a space cadet .. so we are doing just fine. :-P > My 50th is on Sunday and I'm already celebrating! Go for it .. Happy Birthday and continue to celebrate. We gotta do that when we can .. methinks. :-) Picked up my wife from English language school night afore last at 9 .. I had been in The Pub during her 3 hours in school .. then I took her to a Pub I hadn't been to in 2 years .. Meridiyan (Meridian in English). Brother and sister owners used to be good friends. Long story short, I was 2.5 sheets to the wind afore I picked Tanya up and I had a couple more at Meridiyan .. she stuck to her 1 glass of Red Wine .. twice a week, etc., which is OK says our List Mama ;-) .. and a big plate of sliced fruit and cheese. I had something to celebrate besides deciding to leave this damn PC alone for a while .. twas our 2d anniversary month so there were some roses waiting for her there at the Meridiyan. :-) She almost forgave me for my overindulgence afore picking her up. ;-) > As an older, wiser, well travelled man, ya gotta admit that you can > go to a place a bunch of times, and still not really BE there. Older I am .. mayhaps more experienced in international humma-humma as I've lived around 65% of my adult life outside the USA .. wiser I am not gonna claim but I won't disagree with the last part of your statement. Howsomeever .. I was pretty well catered to by Egyptian officers .. they took me all over the place each trip cause that's the protocol and they expected the same treatment when they visited us in the USA. There is little I missed in Egypt in maybe 15 or 18 trips .. normally for a week at a time. I am still firmly believing that the Egyptians have never .. and do not now .. routinely use Neat essential oils as perfume. I can provide a lotta evidence to support that .. if folks wanna see it. But I would rather just leave it at saying even if they did it is NOT an indication that its a good thing to do .. nor is it something folks on this list should try. But .. if they wanna go neat .. me and the other dealers will just sell more oils. ;-) First .. perfumes have NEVER been pure EO and they are not now .. in fact, animal and veggie fats were used during the 3,000 year period of Egyptian greatness so there is no precedent for using them neat. Secondly, Rose Otto, Jasmine & Sandalwood and most EO used in perfumes when used neat .. can and do often cause contact dermatitis and other problems for folks with certain allergies and/or hypersensitivity due to common sensitization to some chemical components found in those or even other oils. Finally, they are generally costly and just a drop or three goes a heckuva long way. All of the above (except the finally portion) is well documented in hundreds of tests by dermatologists .. and in the Safety Manual " Plant Aromatics " http://www.av-at.com/plantaromaticsavnp.html Unless the Egyptian people were spawned on another world and have no genetic similarity to those of use who do not live in Egypt .. they're at as much risk as anyone else. As for other health issues .. they are at far greater risk than the average of folks on this list. > Especially if you're there on business. Still, know that I am a > respectful fan of yours, and I value your knowledge and opinions. Thankee ma'am .. appreciated are the kind words .. but please NEVER think I expect folks to agree with me on all things. True it is that life is where the real experiences come from and the longer we live the more things we get to experience .. which brings to mind that we gotta build on those experiences .. otherwise we might wind up with 1 year of experience 20 times rather than 20 years experience. ;-) Truth and facts as we know them are like mysticism, science and the Earth .. all are in a constant state of change. Man can do just so much to affect his temporary environment. Saving Rainforests (for example) is not only a temporary stop gap .. but its an impossible task for mankind .. he can destroy them but he can't save them. Keeping in mind that man is but one ornament on the genetic tree and we are no more or less valuable in the big picture than the other species (99% of those that ever existed are now extinct). Evolution will take care of itself and it isn't concerned about who gets in the way. Besides that, around 10 billion years from now when Earth goes back to a Nova it won't matter anyway unless man has evolved into something we can't imagine. ;-) > Carol, I so enjoyed your post. You feel like a kindred spirit. It was a good read for sure. > I personally feel that today, we -- and I mean WE as a civilization - > - know FAR, far less and have access to fewer skills and tools than > we did then. In the Temple of Osiris, solid granite is perfectly, > cut with a technology we don't have today. But we do have the technology today .. and far superior to the stone cutters of old. The Egyptians led the world in stone craftsmanship for 2,000 years but we don't live in the ancient world today. True it is that moving 2,300,000 blocks of stone averaging 2.5 tons each was a magnificent feat .. but also .. today we are not allowed slave labor and mankind (generally) gives more attention to human life. We have a man made mountain here in Turkey .. Nemrut Dag .. I've climbed it early in the morning and watched the sun rise below me .. but there were a lotta lives lost building that for the vain Roman Persian King Antiochus I of Commagene http://www.worldheritagesite.org/sites/nemrutdag.html http://www.adiyamanli.org/mt_nemrut.htm > Tourists are not allowed to the site I visited, 60 feet below. They > have no idea what is beneath them. Even we had 2 armed guards join us > as we decended to a roped off area. It was under about 3 feet of water, > but we went to the edge and spent about 30 minutes there. Yours was a great adventure and some super nice photos you shared. :-) Craftsmanship is no longer profitable .. tis the signature on all the ancient ruins of all parts of the world .. to include some that still stand here in Turkey that are much older than the pyramids. Today craftsmanship is just not profitable. Even the European buildings built in my lifetime were built by craftsmen .. but not now. When I worked the August 1999 earthquake here I was at the epicenter, Golcuk. Super nice buildings 30 years old or less fell like a deck of cards .. but the 200 to 300 year old mosques stood intact .. that tells us much about pride and craftsmanship. In another post you mentioned the Wisdom of the Ancients. There is no doubt that they knew a lot for their time .. but to think that they were wiser than modern day scientists would be wrong .. methinks. Its a bit romantic .. like the concept of the Noble Savage .. and my spiritual leanings are Native American .. but I refuse to close my eyes to the realities of the history of the American Indians .. or the Egyptians. The ancient Egyptians lived on average less than 40 years .. when King Tutankhamun died at age 18 he was already a mature person for that time. I think the only famous dude to reach a ripe old age was Ramesses II .. he ruled for 80 of his 90+ years .. but he had a couple of hundred wives to help him along. ;-) The problems for Egypt began when some of his 170+ younguns lost control of the Empire. Spiritualism and magic (like mummification) was common throughout Egypt and the ancient world .. on every continent. It was an effort to control man's destiny in the face of wrathful gods. Attempts to try to influence the supernatural was common to all ancient cultures and all religions prior to monotheism. But that did not make them wise. Was Sitting Bull able to foresee the future? Historians can't prove otherwise because many of his prophecies were documented on buffalo hides. But parapsychology is not about explaining the impossible .. its about trying to explain the unknown .. and in many cases it has to deal with issues that violate the laws of nature .. to include the laws of physics. But those who are " gifted " are not really wiser than the rest of us .. they just have a talent we don't have. Some claim the priests of Egypt were wise men but when the Egyptian Empire fell into their hands it began to decline and continued until we see what we see today. Not too wise methinks. > A great many of the ancient sites in Egypt are MUCH older than the > guides will tell you. They must protect their beliefs with nothing > dated earlier than 5000 B.C. Their jobs depend on it. There is so > much more than the " eye " can see. I think you meant to write .. 5,000 years ago .. 3,300 BC or so is as far back as Egyptian history can be traced based on stone tablets and around 3,100 BC they became unified under the First Dynasty. There was some form of civilization there prior to that .. signs of life being in the Nile Valley go back 700,000 years or so. Permanent settlements (say archeologists) were built there around 5,500 BC by primitive folks .. like those who lived in the area of Catalhouyuk (now Turkey) during and prior to the Predynastic Period. In relatively modern times, the first Egyptian pyramid was built around 2,700 BC and the first of the Great Pyramids came along a couple of hundred years later. True it is that the Egyptian Empire was the longest lived of all the empires .. 3,000 years .. but like all empires it weakened in time so the wisdom of the ancients obviously was not enough. ;-) > There are many references in the hyroglyphics about oils and > perfumes. The lotus blossom, of course, being a sacred symbol in > their culture, associated with immortality. True it is .. much is written on it. But in no reference can one find that the oils were used neat .. on the other hand .. I can come up with a laundry list of references that state otherwise. > There are also hospitals and clinics in several temples. More than > one temple has a " Dream Therapy " clinic. Amazing. Lots of small > pools, which, as one who does Watsu, seem perfect in size for a one- > on-one session! The Egyptians were pretty good doctors for physical ailments that could be fixed by humans .. lots written on that .. but they obviously had no way to prevent or cure disease .. they didn't even know what disease was or how/why it was caused. I think medical science .. and even most of the folks on this list .. are wiser (better informed) than the greatest doctors/healers who lived in ancient times. > In joy, > Michelle Yes'mam .. that is the way we gotta view life. We're all going under snakes some day .. so I reckon the main two things we should concentrate on are .. how much living (not existing) we gonna do afore that .. and how are we gonna be remembered when we go under. Y'all keep smiling. :-) And don't use the danged EO neat. ;-) Butch http://www.AV-AT.com
