::Hyalurionic Acid, 1% Solution::

http://www.ingredientstodiefor.com/item.php?item_id=126

>*Increase skin's moisture content by upto 388%!*

Superior Moisturization: Hyaluronic Acid is known as the most effective

moisturizer ever discovered. A 1% aqueous solution is incredibly effective, even

at 0.1-1%. Hyaluronic Acid has recently been used to create Hylaform Gel, an FDA

Approved injectable material that aestheticians and plastic surgeons predict

will replace collagen injections because the risk of reaction is lower (most

collagen being of bovine origin) and Hylaform Gel is more effective, and the

results last longer than those of collagen injections.

Hyaluronic Acid 1% is an aqueous solution. During manufacture, special

attention is paid above all to maintaining its high relative molecular mass and

a high degree of purity. Hyaluronic acid is made up of approx. 1,000 to 10,000

disaccharide units in the form of unbranched, long chains. Each disaccharide

unit consist of one molecule each of glucuronic acid and N- HYALURONIC ACID the

most effective moisturizer ever discovered acetylglucosamine. The high viscosity

of Hyaluronic Acid derives from the very pronounced hydrophilic characteristics

of Hyaluronic acid.

In water, low concentrations suffice to yield a highly viscous solution with

outstanding spreading and lubricating properties. In connective tissue,

Hyaluronic acid fills the space between collagenous and elastic fibers and the

cells. It is particularly responsible for the visco-elastic characteristics of

tissue, especially those of the skin.

Effect: In view of its high relative molecular mass the Hyaluronic acid is not

absorbed following application to the skin. Instead, it forms a thin, light

permeable, invisible, visco-elastic surface film. This fixes the moisture on the

surface of the skin. The Hyaluronic acid film helps to preserve the principal

characteristics of young, healthy skin, such as smoothness, elasticity and tone.

The Hyaluronic acid film supports the skin’s natural protective mechanism. Since

it is an excellent water reservoir and an ideal lubricant, Hyaluronic acid, when

incorporated into cosmetics, leads to a perceptible and visible improvement in

skin condition.

::Rovisome C::

http://www.ingredientstodiefor.com/item.php?item_id=108

>*Firm, Tone, and Revitalize Skin With This Fabulous Active C in Delivery

System!*

What is rovisome C? :: Rovisome C is Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate in a

Liposomal Delivery System (LDS).

What is Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate? ::MAP is a water soluble vitamin C

derivative, which is stable in aqueous solution, and can be easily formulated in

skin care products. MAP is a phosphate ester, and therefore can be hydrolyzed to

ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) in the skin by enzymes (phosphatase), at which point

it will show its physiological and pharmacological activities. In order to

achieve these results, however, MAP must penetrate the Corneocyte Layer to reach

the target layers of skin. This is the purpose of the LDS.

What is a liposome?:: A Liposome is a vesicle that forms when phospholipids

hydrate in water. Under low shear mixing conditions, they tend to be

multilamellar, a structure comprised of oriented bilayers of phospholipid

molecules surrounding concentric aqueous compartments. Further processing

produces Rovisome unilamellar liposomes that are small in size, uniform and

stable. Studies have shown that TWICE as much of the active is delivered to the

living epidermis by an LDS when compared to topical application of the active

alone.

What are the benefits of using a vitamin c active in skin care?:: Vitamin C

Actives has been widely used in various cosmetics and quasi-drugs because of its

advantageous properties such as inhibitory effects on melanogenesis, promotion

of collagen synthesis, and prevention of lipid peroxidation. The use of MAP in

cosmetics and cosmeceuticals is an important factor in preventing dry skin,

sunburn, chloasma and ephelides, and in keeping the skin healthy and young.

Classic Anti-Wrinkle lotions utilized a Vitamin C active as their only

anti-aging ingredient. Vitamin C is especially useful in anti-wrinkle and skin

lightening formulae, and it’s performance in these two arenas can be potentiated

by coupling the Rovisome C with Sodium Lactate in the formula. Application areas

for Rovisome C would include: skin toning, elasticity, moisturization, wrinkle

reduction, moisturising, skin tightening, penetration, peeling, carrier system,

whitening.

How do Liposomes Function?:: Liposomes are hydrated bilayer structures that

are readily compatible with the peridermal lipids (the skins’ primary moisture

barrier) which exist as lamellar bilayers. Lamellar bilayers require less

moisture to maintain their structure. When a Liposome fuses with the epidermal

lipids, the epidermal lipid structure becomes overloaded with water and out of

equilibrium. To restore equilibrium, the water and Phospholipid (+ the

associated active) are rapidly churned throughout the top six cell layers of the

stratum corneum, hydrating this structure. The extra moisture in the lipids

remains for several hours, and greater penetration of the active occurs as it is

rapidly carried down through the stratum corneum, with penetration stopping at

the “end” of the living epidermal cells.

How does the performance of rovisome c compare to that of ascorbic acid?::

Ascorbic acid has several documented physiological and pharmacological effects

on the skin. Ascorbic acid acts as an inhibitor of melanin formation and also

plays a role in collagen formation. Unfortunately, ascorbic acid cannot be

USEFULLY employed in any cosmetic product because of its incredibly poor

stability. Therefore, Rovisome C has been developed to offer formulators the

benefits of a Vitamin C Active that can be delivered to the target layers,

without the stability issues.
