Guest guest
Michelle What is the source of this information on the benefits? And, which of several versions of Essiac does this apply to? I've been making this stuff since about 1992. Did wonders for my really sick kid at that time. We used it daily for about three years, then seasonally. THink I will now adjourn to the kitchen to brew up a batch. While it is doing it's thing, I will go outside and gather some burdock seedheads to add something fresh to the brew. mjh Fri, 30 Dec 2005 15:23:40 -0000 " Michelle " <michelle Benefits of Essiac Tea Benefits of Essiac Tea 1. Prevents the buildup of excess fatty deposits in artery walls, heart, kidney and liver. 2. Regulates cholesterol levels by transforming sugar and fat into energy. 3. Destroys parasites in the digestive system and throughout the body. 4. Counteracts the effects of aluminum, lead and mercury poisoning-- this has important implications for cancer. See the top ten cancer- fighting effects the eight herbs in essiac have. These ten effects explain why many people with cancer take essiac tea. 5. Strengthens and improves the functioning of muscles, organs and tissues. 6. Makes bones, joints, ligaments, lungs, and membranes strong and flexible, and therefore less vulnerable to stress or stress injuries. 7. Nourishes and stimulates the brain and nervous system. 8. Promotes the absorption of fluids in the tissues. 9. Removes toxic accumulations in the fat, lymph, bone marrow, bladder, and alimentary canals. 10. Neutralizes acids, absorbs toxins in the bowel, and eliminates both. 11. Clears the respiratory channels by dissolving and expelling mucus. 12. Relieves the liver of its burden of detoxification by converting fatty toxins into water-soluble substances that can then be easily eliminated through the kidneys. 13. Assists the liver to produce lecithin, which forms part of the myelin sheath, a white fatty material that encloses nerve fibers. 14. Reduces, perhaps eliminates, heavy metal deposits in tissues (especially those surrounding the joints) to reduce inflammation and stiffness. 15. Improves the functions of the pancreas and spleen by increasing the effectiveness of insulin. 16. Purifies the blood. 17. Increases red cell production, and keeps them from rupturing. 18. Increases the body's ability to utilize oxygen by raising the oxygen level in the tissue cells. 19. Maintains the balance between potassium and sodium within the body so that the fluid inside and outside each cell is regulated: in this way, cells are nourished with nutrients and are also cleansed. 20. Converts calcium and potassium oxalates into a harmless form by making them solvent in the urine. Regulates the amount of oxalic acid delivered to the kidneys, thus reducing the risk of stone formation in the gall bladder, kidneys, or urinary tract. 21. Protects against toxins entering the brain. 22. Protects the body against radiation and X-rays. 23. Relieves pain. 24. Speeds up wound healing by regenerating the damaged area. 25. Increases the production of antibodies like lymphocytes and T- cells in the thymus gland, which is the defender of our immune system. 26. Inhibits benign growths and tumors. 27. Protects the cells against free radicals. 28. Increases the appetite for healthful foods. 29. Decreases sugar cravings due to better blood sugar control. 30. Increases energy along with an improved sense of well being. mjh " The Basil Book " http://foxhillfarm.us/FireBasil/

Guest guest
Hi MJ, How nice to brew up your own tea! The information provided pertains to the original formula developed by Rene Caisse, which is the only one I personally stand behind. It was in my files, but I would imagine it came from the Essiac site. Here's some good stuff, including a free download on Essiac. http://www.essiacinfo.org/ All the best, Michelle

But I am sure glad I did ask about this. It was good to read all those wonderful results in other people and pets...never thought of using it on pets. I got the recipe from the website but think I will go out and buy a bottle to try first. Thank you Michelle for your wonderful insight on the tea. Guest guest
Information on Essiac: Essiac Tea is a cupful of carefully measured herbs (4 herbs). This cup of herbs is put into 2 gallons of spring water and steeped for 12 hours to bring out the full benefit of the herbs. Reheat in the morning to almost boiling, let cool a little and begin the straining process. Strain as many times as you like (or need to). Some people prefer perfectly clear tea while others do not mind it a bit cloudy from the powdered herbs. (I put the strained herbs into my compost pile! Waste not, want not!) Reheat the liquid again for 2-3 minutes and then pour into amber glass bottles. Be sure bottles are preheated or the hot liquid could crack them. Cap, let cool and put into refrigerator. This is good for 2 weeks. To use, mix 2oz of Essiac with 2 oz of hot water. Never heat this in the microwave. Essiac is best taken on an empty stomach to allow for better absorbability. Always take before eating. The body is stimulated to throw off toxins so you must drink plenty of clean spring water. Recommendations: 3 times a day for cancer and serious ailments 2 times a day for chronic and one time a day for maintenance and gentle detoxification Essiac is a combination of Sheep Sorrel, Burdock Root, Turkey Rhubarb Root Powder and Slippery Elm Inner Bark Powder. Guest guest
You're most welcome Barbara. Glad you found it helpful. I wish everyone knew about Essiac! While I'm sure there are many herbalists making excellent formulas, (including some personal friends) there is ONLY ONE original Essiac and it is the ONLY ONE I can stand behind. HAPPY, HEALTHY NEW YEAR! Michelle
