Guest guest
Hello Everyone! My dad has just come to me and has what we think is shingles. I was wondering if any of you know of essential oils that can help heal the pain & discomfort. He's using our Dead Sea Mud to keep the itching subsided; however, the internal pain is something the mud can't help with, unfortunately! I have numerous essential oils in stock, just not sure what we should blend & apply topically that will be properly absorbed into the blood stream. Please email me off list if you know of anything we can try. I pray all of you have a very Blessed New Year! God Bless, Tammy D. Guest guest
Hi Tammy...my 15 year old daughter breaks out in shingles about twice a year. Here's what I mix up for her...1/2 epk clay and 1/2 bentonite clay with distilled water until it has a nice clay texture then I add the following essential oils: Rose geranium, lavender, calendula, cedarwood, chammomile german, eucalyptus, patchouli, lemon. She was suffering terribly until I applied this clay mixture on her affected area. I knew what it was immediately as an ex-roommate had had them before. I applied the clay very thick and the initial break out area never spread although we could see where it was going to go because there was a bright red stread following the nerve. Hope this works for your dad too. Tammy Doering <MudQueen wrote: Hello Everyone! My dad has just come to me and has what we think is shingles. Guest guest
I doubt that your daughter is breaking out with shingles. Has a neurologist said that they keep coming back ?Shingles is something you get once. The pain may never go away or flare up again, but the actual shingles are a one time thing. Not a fun thing to have. Paula .......... in Michigan I used to have super powers but my therapist took them away Hi Tammy...my 15 year old daughter breaks out in shingles about twice a year. Guest guest
Actually, shingles are a virus, related to the herpes virus, I believe. Once you have had them once, you can have subsequent outbreaks. The virus camps on the nerve endings, which is why its so painful during an outbreak. Kinda like coldsores. mary Well, Naturally - paula coon Saturday, December 31, 2005 9:03 AM Re: Relief for shingles And he says they keep coming back ? How old was she when she had chicken pox ? Guest guest
Shingles are related to the chicken pox virus. If you've never had chicken pox, you can't get shingles. It is extremely rare to have more than 1 out break of shingles. This is why I doubt that a child is having recurring problems with it. Shingles can cause damage to the nerves which is why some times the pain never goes away or flares back up. I did ALOT of research on shingles when I had them and again after I thought I was having a flare up. Talked with my neurologist about it too while in the process of being diagnosed with MS. Guest guest
The virus that causes shingles remains in your body and usually lies dormant in the nerve cells adjacent to your spinal cord. Once the virus reactivates, and no one knows exactly for sure why this happens, the pain and itching start and the rash and blisters reappear. http://www.zynoxin.com/?gclid=CJiHqIy-p4ICFTMfLAodnEsnDg Zo

Guest guest
The virus is only there if you've had the chicken pox. I'd rely on information from a medical site before I'd rely on what a drug company has to say. The medical site has nothing to gain where the drug company stands to make much $$$ if people buy their product whether they need it or not. Guest guest
The first time she broke out she was 14 years. It was her first year in school - ever - and it was just before midterms. Approximately a week to ten days after her initial break out/diagnosis, my youngest daughter broke out in chicken pox...a confirmation of the doctors shingles diagnosis. Just before finals she broke out again and did the same this year before midterms. According to our pediatrician and the research I did, shingles can recur at any time. The recipe I put up actually cleared them up in about 3-5 days all three times. I have a friend who suffers with venereal herpes and doesn't take medication for it. Just to see if it would work, I gave them a sample to use on their next outbreak. This person came back with very positive testimony. According to them the outbreak area wasn't as large as it usually gets and cleared up quicker. I used it on my youngest daughter's chicken pox but it only helped with the itching a little bit and it did nothing to stop the outbreak. I'm obviously not a doctor and not involved in research for anything like that, just using what seems to help on family and friends. I don't know if it's just the clay or the EO's but it does seem to help. Guest guest
My oldest daughter never had a chickenpox vaccine, she did have the chickenpox when she was about 3 or 4. My husband and I decided not to vaccinate against this virus for our youngest daughter and as I mentioned earlier she broke out with chicken pox shortly after my oldest daughter had her initial shingles outbreak. Guest guest
The amino acid lysine is also supposed to be helpful for shingles. Since Melissa is the herb of choice for herpes, I wonder if it, in any form, might not help with shingles also? I am also intrigued by the timing factor. Every half year suggests a Mars cycle. It might be interesting to look at that. If it turns out to be so, you could keep an eye on the stars and perhaps prevent future outbreaks by hitting the lysine beforehand! Just an idea, it takes all kinds. Hippocrates preferred to know the hour of birth... Ien in the Kootenays ************************* " Never mind what the book says. God gave you a brain. " ~A.T. Guest guest
When I was seen in the neurology dept at U of M hospital in Michigan (one of the best teaching hospitals in the country) I asked the doctors I saw (all 5 of them) about my shingles coming back and they while it is possible to have more than 1 out break, it was extremely rare and many cases of 'shingles' are actually something else and it is nearly unheard of in children. My regular neurologist said almost the same thing. I have had flare ups of the pain but the full rash. Some people have to have surgery to remove the affected nerves because of the damage and continuing pain caused by their one adn only case of shingles Paula .......... in Michigan I used to have super powers but my therapist took them away The first time she broke out she was 14 years. Guest guest
A sample was taken from her back where the affected area was and sent off to a lab. According to the pediatrician, a highly respected physician in Broward County, Florida, it was shingles. One thing that did seem to help tremendously with the pain in between outbreaks was applying lavender angustafolia, neat. Another friend of mine who had only one outbreak but lives with persistent pain in the outbreak area also gave positive feedback after using the lavender.
