I recently got a book by this author called Healing with Whole Foods that I am

quite taken with. It seems to have quite a TCM slant. Is he well thought of in

your circles?

Hi Kathy, if you do a search of the group's archives, you'll find some

conversations we've had about his book.

I have found his book to be a great resource for prescribing specific foods

depending on the presenting TCM patterns. He has a significant amount of modern

nutrition knowledge as well. I have found that patients love to own this book

too. I believe it was a required text at PCOM.

The Pitchford book was also a required text at my TCM school.

Prior to Pitchford, I had taken some independent Ayurvedic

food therapy courses, nutrition courses at conventional colleges,

and read food therapy books like Dr. Lu's " Chinese Natural Cures " .

At the end of the day, Pitchford's book can proudly stand along with

all these resources.

What is nice about Pitchford as well, is that he includes some

interesting recipes.

The only possible drawback to Pitchford, for some, from a TCM pov, is that he is

strongly vegan (not only vegetarian, but vegan).

But, personally, I don't have a problem with this, as the core

knowledge is applicable to all types, and the recipes can be

naturally be adapted to any diet.

The book is pretty thick, and I'd say a great value at the price of

around $20.
