Guest guest
Lonny, You are correct about tests not assuring competence but the evaluation of schools also has pitfalls. They can knock a school out because it is badly managed which may not even impact on the teachings. This happened to MITCM. The teachers were great, given the limitations of TCM, but the place was poorly managed. I got a very solid foundation in TCM which was not what I was really interested in. I subsequently started studying in Jeffrey Yuen's NYC programs and Niki Bilton's continuing education in 5 elements acupuncture in the Worseley tradition. Actually nothing assures competence but as a profession we must appear to offer some assurance as to the competence of practitioners. Doctors do this and as we all know there is a lot of variability in their personal abilities. Zinnia attentivedragon.com
