Guest guest
Just my 32 year old blondie IQ opinion... Everyone seems to be getting a bit carried away with the modern times vs. old times discussion... This debate, as the present discussion proves and has pointed out more than once, has existed for many thousands of years without resolution. All the arguments presented, all valid in their own paradigm, are the standard arguments that usually come forth when this philosophical question is posed. I want for proof any baccalaureate exam cheat sheet from my country, which will surely list all these arguments and more under the heading of this topic. To expound them serves no purpose but to fan the wind of anger, with very little if any clinical progress. I am fairly certain all of you have thought out both sides of the argument for years, since this is part of our life studies as bronze age medicine practitioners in modern times. I am fairly certain we are all aware of the many sides of the argument, and it seems like a waste of breath and peace to force ourselves through it yet one more time. I am also shocked at the somewhat personal tone of some of the emails... as Joe pointed out i love the passion, but is this not a place for reflection and mutual aid? Rather than assuming a person's opinion is such or such and reacting like lightning, wouldn't it be nice to try to ask constructive questions first, without the intention of defensiveness and/or superiority, and then refute equally as constructively so we can all progress in our understanding? Some have done it and i deeply appreciate the respect this shows all of us. Lastly, i would want to express sadness at seeing the way Lonny's book was criticized. I have not read it yet, but simply cannot believe the cruelty of such public censure. Certainly no one deserves such treatment, even in the midst of disagreement. Genevieve. Guest guest
Hi all: --- Lastly, i would want to express sadness at seeing the way Lonny's book was criticized. I have not read it yet, but simply cannot believe the cruelty of such public censure. Certainly no one deserves such treatment, even in the midst of disagreement. --- I would like to point out that someone provoked all of this with the capital crime of stating their opinion that Lonny's book was overpriced. And man did the storm hit. Just consider it. Guest guest
Dear Genevieve, My book was not criticized, and even if it were I don't take such things personally. Especially not 10,000 copies later. It was merely stated in error that my book was overpriced and I took the opportunity to set the record straight that it is not. I will suggest that the goal of medicine, life, philosophy, and discussion is not " peace " but rather developmental " change " . Of course, evolution is a messy business and there will always be a large number of those who reflexively defend the status quo. I appreciate your sentiments but what has happened is typical of my interactions here in this forum and it doesn't phase me a bit. It's expected, and I'm always writing just for the small percentage, at the leading edge, that are interested in moving ahead and capable of understanding. I engage here 4 times a year and I find that the opportunity to meet the few motivated people that I do is always well worth the effort! Warmly, Lonny Jarrett
Guest guest
All: For the sake of clarity, the following is ad hominem (my commentary afterward is merely cheeky): -Lonny-- I appreciate your sentiments but what has happened is typical of my interactions here in this forum and it doesn't phase me a bit. It's expected, and I'm always writing just for the small percentage, at the leading edge, that are interested in moving ahead and capable of understanding. --- Are you *ever* wrong?
