David Dorian Ross We are delighted to announce that for the very first time, Shifu David Dorian Ross will be a presenter at the annual Zhang San Feng Festival. As the star of the acclaimed Giaim tai chi and qigong educational video series, David has been regarded as a pioneer in the field of tai chi education. Just about anyone who's had any interest in tai chi or qigong in the last twenty years, has David Dorian-Ross sitting on their bookshelf. Master Zhou Raised in a temple on Wudang Mountain, Master Zhou Xuan Yun is as authentic as they come. HALL OF FAME This year's winner of the 2010 Hall of Fame is Dr. Gary Torres, Grandmaster of renowned Peter Kwok lineage. Dr. Torres is, perhaps, one of the most accomplished martial arts masters in the country, having attained mastery of Shaolin, taiji, bagua, xingyi, together with in-depth knowledge in joint locking and pressure point techniques. In addition, Grandmaster Torres, is also Dr. Torres, a licensed MD, a chiropractor, an acupuncturist, with a master's degree in teaching. Whether teaching kungfu as a school owner for nearly thirty years, or teaching in workshops and seminars all over the country, Dr. Torres has made significant contributions to the preservation and spread of traditional kungfu knowledge throughout the country. If you're a fan of Dr. Torres, come show your support for this night that we pay tribute to this special teacher. KEYNOTE ADDRESS This year's address will be delivered by Venerable Oceans of Wisdom Sakya, a Buddhist priest whose contributions to the Festival have helped elevate our event of, not only martial and healing arts, but of spiritual teachings. You can rest assured that this evening's keynote address will be insightful, entertaining and thought provoking. PRE-FESTIVAL WORKSHOP Discovering the Devastating Power of Xingyiquan This workshop begins the long awaited xingyiquan series, from Dr. Gary Torres. Xingyi is one of the three primary internal martial arts. It is a " no nonsense " martial art that contains, at its core, just five moves, combined with specialized footwork. This workshop will teach the five elements of the Peter Kwok system of xingyi. As always with Dr. Torres, this workshop will focus the practical usage of the art for self-defense, with an incredible array of applications that will leave you breathless. Yiquan is often said to embody the true " internal " training of the internal arts. It is a methodology of training that gets to the essence of the internal power all internal artists strive for. Never before taught in this manner, Grandmaster Wang, Rengang will be teaching the entire training methodology in three days, showing you how to build your internal practice, step by step. This system can be applied to any internal art (tai chi, bagua and xingyi), and will teach you an entire training regime you can add to your own practice. This workshop is also perfect for teachers who will be able to take an entire system of training back to their own school to teach their students. Don't miss this very rare opportunity to bring your practice to entirely new levels!
