Guest guest
Our kitty Jaspur has been injured--best guess is that he was hit by a car (poor kitty). He had the ball of his hip ball and socket joint broken so they did surgery and cut the ball off. The incident happened last Friday and his surgery was on Saturday. They have weaned him down to just metacam for pain. I can tell that he is in pain--more than he was when they had a patch on him (they took it off yesterday). My question is if its safe to give cats trauma herbs. There is a formula for first stage trauma called Trauma 1 by the company Golden Flower Chinese herbs. I'm thinking about giving him some. Its for heat, inflammation, and swelling and has some herbs for pain like Ru Xiang and Mo Yao in it. Any thoughts? This is second kitty of ours in the past few months that has wound up in the hospital. Time to by invisible fence. Laura
Guest guest
This is just my experience but Metacam put my cat into Kidney Failure - it was a miracle that he pulled through - please read about it - it is very dangerous for cats - it is similar to viox which was taken off the market for people - there have to be alternatives.. Sorry to be so emotional but it was traumatic and expensive - he spent a week at the vets on fluids etc...I would never give that to a cat again... Guest guest
Thanks for the warning! I had been thinking they were weaning him off it too soon, but now I am happy that they are. So thanks for the head's up.
