Guest guest
I hope this is not what you consider a primary source, especially since it has no citation and hence completely unsubstantiated and therefore meaningless. It says nothing about comparing the life expectancy of someone 2000 years ago with today. Guest guest
Thanks Jason. From wikipedia on Acupuncture: --- Specifically regarding acupuncture, the AMA cited reviews conducted in 1992 and 1993 that stated there was not enough evidence to support acupuncture's effectiveness in treating disease, and called for further research. --- So I don't know who is making stuff up, but I hope you take this very seriously and stop practicing acupuncture. I'm serious. They have lots of intelligent professionals who have calculated a lot of numbers and have *found* insufficient evidence of any effect via acupuncture. Get with the program. Guest guest
Although this acupuncture page says nothing about your argument, Wikipedia is correct. They are just stating a fact about the AMA’s statement. Are you saying that they have the AMA’s statement incorrect? Furthermore, if anything on that page is incorrect, you have the right to challenge it. Of note, the page also says that the NIH said, “there is sufficient evidence to expand its use and encourage further studies of the phenomenon“… Actually reading through the page it looks pretty accurate to me. There are controversies and issues around acupuncture and denying them doesn't help anyone. All the points are documented (with citations) and you can verify where the information comes from. If you find some errors you can easily petition the page and change it. I find Wikipedia a much more legitimate source than The China Study, which actually doesn’t even discuss the issue that we are talking about. I am still waiting for your primary source, since everything else that has been presented is just “incorrectâ€... -Jason Chinese Medicine Chinese Medicine On Behalf Of Hugo Ramiro Sunday, April 18, 2010 3:00 PM Chinese Medicine Re: Re: Tonification with exterior patterns Thanks Jason. Guest guest
I am saying that the AMA is full of intelligent, mathematical people, and that they are, of course, right. I am still waiting for you to get the point. Guest guest
Hi Hugo, I've presented support for your positions before on this forum because I was a student and colleague of T. Colin Campbell, chairman of Nutritional Biochemistry at Cornell University. His study was seen both as a landmark in nutrition as well as congruent with texts being used by me in my nutrition classes using the texts of Stanford/UC professors here in northern California. I've argued this also from Stanford professor Cavali-Sforza's perspective and his colleague Spencer Wells who work at Stanford on his team. I'm not impressed by Weston Price's commentary nor his " wiki " credentials: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weston_Price I've presented your argument, Hugo, on this forum, that the paradigm of nutritional history is well articulated by those citing Campbell, Cavali-Sforza, Wells, the work of their labs and the centers that are gathering data around the world for the Genome Project. By the time my grandchildren are in graduate school, this will be old news. They are not far behind you. Carry on, and go slowly on the uphills. Pace yourself and try not to tire in the spring of the Metal Tiger. The momentum is in the fall. Respectfully, Em Segmen
Guest guest
I'm with Emmanuel and Hugo on this. I think sometimes that food is an emotional issue, and that the vegan vs. animal food dichotomy is at the root of this 'controversy' between Price and Campbell. Price is a big believer in the 'paleolithic diet', which shares the approach of simple, natural foods with Campbell, but encourages a relatively large amount of animal protein in the diet. Whether one is vegan or not, I think Campbell's book is of extreme importance, and that diet is one of the foundation stones of health. I don't mind saying that there is a 'great corporate processed food conspiracy', and that the more that developing societies indulge in it, the worse their health will be. It doesn't take an advanced degree, millions in research or anything else to figure that out. On Apr 19, 2010, at 5:06 PM, E.
