Guest guest
To me, Licensure performs three main functions: 1: Props up people who are incompetent but who have political or financial connections to the licensing agency. 2: Institutionalizes mediocrity and prevents innovation through " standardization. " 3: Establishes an anti-trust relationship between the licensing agency and insurance companies. (This is aside from the issue of the anti-trust relationship of insurance companies and people who perform acupuncture under other licenses without any actual training.) Discuss amongst yourselves. - <acudoc11 <Chinese Medicine > Sunday, April 18, 2010 4:39 PM PTs Bill in Florida KILLED > S2146 GENERAL BILL by Lawson > Physical Therapy [sPSC]; Provides the scope of practice for a physical > therapist. Guest guest
I fully agree. The licensing program here in BC has dumbed down TCM, It is great for physicians or physiotherapists looking to boost their bottom line, but what is legislated by the BC College of TCM is a poor imitation of pure TCM. It also prevents a lot of competent practitioners from practicing here. They keep promising to acknowledge apprenticeship as a valid form of training, but it has yet to happen.
