Guest guest
Don, Can you explain your AOM treatment a bit more. 1) Do you needle ashi, trigger, motor points locally. 2) how many points do you generally use for the local area? (osteoacu) 3) What distal points are you using, Dr Tan uses many, GB31/34/41. Do you support a yin channel, LV perhaps? Thanks you for sharing your treatment strategies! Guest guest
I never, with few exceptions, needle a point that is not ashi. The points that are ashi are active points and there is pathology there. The exceptions are Master Tong's distal points, they do not necessarily have to be ashi and since many are on the bony area of the hands and feet it is hard to palpate them. However, I still check for sensitivity. Dr. Tan was trained in Master Tong's acupuncture and basically usurped it without giving due credit to his mentor, Dr. Young Wei Chieh. Dr. Tan's acupuncture is larger Master Tong's. Guest guest
Ingesting gelatin was a health fad in Japan while I was there. It makes sense that it would be beneficial for rebuilding cartilage, etc. It makes the skin silky smooth too. Zach
Guest guest
Everything I do has a purpose. SCENAR will shorten your course of treatment by about 2/3. For instance. If I treated that hip that is our discussion now without SCENAR and MET, using only AOM without any e'stim (because e'stim; TENS or MENS is not classical, you know) would take 2 to 3 courses of treatment with 11-15 treatments per course for complete resolution. My methodology cuts the time by around 60% and instead of a 60-70% efficacy as is pretty much standard in TCM, I get 95% or better. Lets think of it this way. To make nitroglycerin you need to combine nitrogen with glycerin. If you don't combine them, you get no boom. However, if combined in the appropriate combinations, I would suggest you do not jar the bottles. Hope this helps, Don Snow Chinese Medicine julie Thu, 29 Apr 2010 16:00:19 +0000 Re: Regeneration of hip joint cartilage How important is the SCENAR for the effectiveness of this protocol? Guest guest
I have misses the original post, but is someone claiming they can regenerate hip joint cartilage I dont believe them for a second. A knee may be but hip no way. I have seen PRP, fat derived stem cells, bone marrow stem cells, growth hormone, glucosamine and other GAGs, implanted electrical stim all fail in the hip. I have played with different elec stim techniques for 25 years. None actually regenerate the hip. At best i have seen some symptomatic relief and perhaps slowing down of the degenerative process. 400 29th St. Suite 419 Oakland Ca 94609 alonmarcus
Guest guest
Can you comment on which Scenar model you have and why you feel it is a good one for this work? Are there any seminars on this in the states? Do you use any modifications, such as gold clips? Who would you recommend a seminar with? Are you also using nutritional supplements (I like whole-food based Standard Process) or do you use Chinese herbs or both to give nutrition to the area? Lastly, it appears to me that you using estim, Scenar and possibly micro-current all in the same visit. Is that correct? One more, in what order do you use these modalities and can this protocol be used to help post hip replacement healing? Michael W. Guest guest
Hi Dr. Bowser, Sorry for the delay. I have used RITM SCENARs and they are good. But now I use only LET model SCENARs for two reasons. 1. The old 035 based SCENARs required 6 to 18 months of training (expensive) before one could get consistant results with SCENAR. And even with this training a high percentage of folks still couldn't " get it. " LET has eliminated this problem since LET models are computer programmed. You place it on the body and when it tells you that you've found the problems, just leave it there and it automatically treats the problem. 2. There are now 2 generations of SCENAR: a) original SCENAR frequency 2) second generation COSMODIC frequency. This is better in many ways, but inferior in a few. This frequency actually stimulates the body into producing its own stem cells. Think about that for a moment and I don't think I need to say more. As for the models to choose from there are myriads. I use models from LET because the inventing scientist, Alexander Korazav is the founder and working scientist in this corporation. He's always innovating, and if you haven't noticed. I like innovation! I personnally use the 705 cosmodic SCENARs, they are my favorite. If money is a consideration and you must choose a scenar, choose cosmodic over scenar. The 705 is great because it is bigger than other models and therefore covers more area. This means you can treat faster. If money is not a problem, get a 735 Modific (experimental) and around $8,000 - $10,000. I personally use the 735-M, but I give my assistants the 705s; although they are always stealing the 735 when I'm not looking. On you training question. When you train under others you limits you knowledge to their knowledge. I recommend learning the basics and, you guessed it; INNOVATING! I can run circles around most of the trainers, and that includes those that train you on MET equipment. That's what's bad about formal schooling. It makes one lazy. Heck, if it wasn't taught in the schools, it must be junk. That's the mentality of Western medicine, and I see that it is becoming the AOM mentality. Standardization breeds stagnation. Hope this helps. I am sincerely, Don J. Snow, DAOM, MPH, L.Ac. Guest guest
Hi Alon, I am not sure you would want a copy, then. What's funny is that there at least two major biomedicine systems for evaluating damage to the joint in question, and they both depend on x-rays. The senior radiologist standing behind me also says they're sufficient. Sometimes you can never win, is all. And who is talking about perfection anyway? Guest guest
I would still like to see the xrays, very small changes in angle of film can give different impressions. But if for example u can document increase joint space on xray and clear decrease in capsular pattern that would be good evidence. Again i would like to see copies of the films clearly indicating name dates and sides 400 29th St. Suite 419 Oakland Ca 94609 alonmarcus
