burning tongue

Well, my patient with the burning painful tongue is doing very well on a

modified yu nu jian. The first batch of formula seemed a little too

cloying, so the next one was modified for heat-phlegm. Afterwards, I

stumbled across a passage in Fluid Physiology in TCM by clavey that says

that strange burning pains in the mouth are often due to phlegm parched

by yin xu. Presto. It is of course interesting that this symptom is

often associated with diabetes, which is treated with yu nu jian

sometimes.
